When investigators say that they had a strong case against a subject of a secret GJ investigation, it's not a tiny sliver--its a baseball bat.
What would you expect the investigators in this case to say? That they had no case?

It's not a baseball bat. It's a fly swatter.

A vast majority of people just don't care about it. The investigation is closed.
Probably as a result that GJ was not buying the evidence. I would like to know if they closed this thing up as GJ was in the process of voting that no charges be brought. Can a new GJ be called? Maybe it's like rolling dice.

I see your glass is half full on your jaundiced view of today's events.

But every single person on earth who had not developed a love affair with, or was getting paid by Lance Armstrong, knew they had a "strong case!"

When you get like 10 of his former teammates cooperationg with an investigation or testifying to a GJ, it's as plain as day. This was just the tip of the iceberg.

You see, RR, I don't want to get my hopes high and have my dreams crushed again. Practically speaking: is it at all possible for the decision to be reversed?

I would suspect it would come from another department within government. Maybe its an IRS investigation alone.

Or if RR is not pulling my chain and what cracks first is the pressure and the cover-up on the decision to drop the case and not the case itself.

I'm looking into my crystal ball, not completely clear yet but I see a big story coming out...Big,Big Big story. Stay tuned.

Tic Toc Tic Toc.
Calling Mr. Grayrod, calling Mr. Grayrod. ToC coming soon, 60 minutes re-visited, different players, but the song remains the same.

It's beginning to look like André Birotte is just another cheese-eating surrender monkey.

Prosecutors have incredible latitude to do their jobs, but even federal prosecutors have superiors. Sometimes it is hard to wrap one's head around exactly how much power the executive brance of the US government wields.

This was no surrender. This was influence peddling, plain and simple.

There has been a multimillion dollar secret investigation using compelled witnesses, and Armstrong has had NO opportunity to defend himself. Now the feds are selectively leaking information from that investigation to hurt Armstrong. Even you can see how unfair that is! And if you are too blinded by hate to see that, think about it this way: this kind of development is a cataclysmic multiorgasmic wet dream for Armstrong's attorneys.

MarkvW:

I am very angry right now. Clearly an innocent man was the victim of a massive government witch-hunt, right? So being that this innocent man has nothing to hide, and being that our society should seek to correct the errors in our criminal justice system, I think it is only right and just to seek (not seek... DEMAND) a full TRANSPARENT inquiry into why it took them TWO YEARS to exonerate such a valued member of our anti-cancer community. Let's lay it ALL out on the table. Let's find out WHO perjured themselves. WHO fabricated evidence. Find out WHO in the federal government is to blame for this obvious miscarriage of justice. And more importantly, we should be RECOGNIZING the one SANE person who woke-up the US attorney's office so that we can publicly THANK them for their patriotic contribution to truth... justice... and the American way.

So after 3 days of relief and jubilation, you (naturally) should be turning your patriotic attention to correcting this obvious misdeed. I don't think it would be fair to Mr. Armstrong and his kids to just let this situation lie. We need to root-out the corruption that LED to this.

You're with me, right?

"Leaks are not all bad and self serving" and can sometimes produce greater results as Race Radio has broadcast ;)

They can be good. Yes, but if they're use too often it becomes trial by press.

I think more people than you think are also bothered by there overuse. I think people are naturally suspicious. They have an instinct that something's wrong if a name can't be put to source or they might feel that it's a unfair tatic. It hurts the prosecution's case. Sometimes leaks do come from the defense, but now they're saying FBI, FDA, US Postal...

Brilliant.

The actions of the guilty are always telling.

Mr. Bay,

You are one of a small percentage in the USA who would even care about this matter. As a matter of fact, I don't think Lance even cares,(or is looking back in the review mirror, over his shoulder etc.
I think that most of the investigators won't even look back. I think even Novitzky has called it a day.
No trial, no money, no glory, for the investigators.

Indeed. Let the investigation continue to prove LA's cleanliness. There should be no doubt as to his guilt. But LA's team seeeeeeeems to prefer spreading doubt over exploring facts.

There still trial-by-press. The ever-useful unnamed source, but your right, most could care less.

If Armstrong don't care, his fans are still here in this tiny corner of cycling discussions trying to obfuscate the discussion of whether USADA will get anything on the 7 time cheat.

I bet he spends a bunch of more money not caring.

I’m with you. I don’t care about suffering of witnesses who were pressured to change testimony. They should just get on with their lives. Stop looking back. I don’t care about those who kept their mouths shut for years to protect the omerta and lose their homes and families in the process. And you’re right. I’m sure Lance doesn’t care either!

Probably Armstrong's biggest fear as it damages his brand. Once the media convict all other avenues don't matter.

Ever see media retractions in papers. Tiny compared to the headlines.

True, but by head count there's only small number here. I griping today more about the use of unnamed sources, but somehow that puts in the fanboy league.

That's what there doing right now. But I'll wager most deem it dirty. The media keep running the same play from the same play book, but captivate an ever smaller and smaller audience.

Oh, I'm quite certain that Mr. Amrstrong probably wants to just get on with his life as if this never happened. Thank your lucky stars that such a small percentage of the population (such as myself) find amusement in correcting breakdowns in the justice system. You benefit from the actions of a few each and every day of your life.

I don't care about the pro cyclists who, after 1999, realized nothing had changed and were essentially forced back into PED use and omerta.

I don't care about the career paths that were forever changed due to a lack of willingness to dope.

I don't care about the duped donators to Livestrong.org, erm uh, .com, uh, no... .org.

I don't care about Mike, Kik, Emma, Betsy, Stephanie, Kevin, Tyler, Floyd, Phillipo, or any other collateral damage done in the pursuit of a fraudulent super-stardom.
