The Lance Armstrong investigation brought me to this forum and now it is over.

My time here has enabled me to learn a lot about a very small subculture of people who gather to spend a lot of their time and energy discussing all the negative aspects of Lance Armstrong. I've spent a lot of time (way too much) with you all. Thank you all very much for sharing with me.

I'm going to try to put Lance Armstrong way in the back of some mental closet, forever I hope. Any publicity is good for him, and I don't think I want to contribute any more.

For those of you that remain, I sincerely hope that something useful comes out of your time spent participating here.

Goodbye!
Mark

But Mark - who is going to keep us updated on how the Hater Referendum is going?
What was the LA team paying you - perhaps we could start a Fan Fairness Fund - I have some old Nike stuff lying around, what size are you?

The Feds don't put all prospective witnesses up before the Grand Jury.

They put sufficient witnesses up to establish a case and those reluctant witnesses who refused to be interviewed by investigators. As you pointed out McIlvain, Hamilton & Popovich were of that ilk.

George Hincapie and Bestsy Andreu we know were only interviewed by investigators and did not testify before the GJ. The feds must have formed the view that both would be a compliant and truthful witnesses in a trial.

There would be a long list of other compliant witnesses that we have not been privy to that told the truth to investigators and were to be subpoenaed for the trial only.

The witnesses I mention are those I'd call "fencepost" witnesses. IE, they hold the fence up in the air. Without them, you don't really have a fence. You've only got "rails".

I feel like I should take over the job, but I don't think my skillset is up to it.

As I said before, I thought you might be more curious. I was wrong.

I'll certainly miss your objectivity and being able to carry a logical discussion. Me? I'm here for the lolz! It stopped being more than that ages ago.

MarkvW I urge you to stay for the reactions of the USADA\WADA case. It will be very entertaining either way.
Edit: Actually what I meant is comeback for the reactions to the USADA\WADA case.

What do you mean how long? They’ve manage to keep a tight ship for 20+ years. This will only make them stronger.

There will be no buses and no throwing.

I would add that whilst Armstrong does make may enemies he’s extremely loyal. Ferrari for example has been a long time protector as is the real Hog. I would suggest the pay masters fall into the “protector” bucket.

I am on the side of you guys but these events have turned me into a realist.

He's extremely loyal, to those who bow down before him and do his bidding.

As soon as he stops competing, could happen an injury or bad accident how is he going to keep the myth rolling to keep the $$$s coming in?

He cant too many media know the truth, so he can only compete to keep Live$trong out there.

He's a guy who loves to compete and win. Hates losing. He'll go lala at some stage as soon as he cant compete and win know matter how much dope he takes.

If it takes another 20 years, so be it. He'll go to his grave with the knowledge that everyone will remember him as a cheat and when that happens he'll realise he lost.

A deja vu experience.

Reminds me of another forum I used to frequent that was unashamedly supporting Floyd Landis against his 2006 AAF. Floyd contributed to this forum as part of his wiki defense objectives.

A non-cyclist, starry eyed, female lawyer joined up and gushed to Floyd about his memorable stage win. She offered her legal services, presumably pro bono, to assist his plight.

I had many PM's with her and she was a genuine lawyer.

When FL's defense and appeal failed she disappeared. A fair weather friend.

I think you mean the "USPS/Tailwind where Lance is not a target, but if he is a target, he is one of a number of targets and therefore not the principal target" investigation.

I was hoping you may have actually learned some law.

People who follow the sport will remain.
Funny, your namesake Mr Fabiani started with Armstrong in August 2010 too.
I guess the green team is no longer required.

I love "Swan Songs". From people that just can't seem to simply leave. They need to write these "last word" declarations, hoping for some kind of reaction. Only he hasn't just gone away. He's sitting there in his basement watching to see what we'll say. And then he won't be able to tolerate actually BEING away, and within a week, a new character will emerge.

And to that I say:

i suppose they had to call it 'green team' after the 'facts4lance' fiasco, but maybe mark was hired off the .org site. ;)

LANCE, INC. TOO BIG TO FAIL

Nothing new, but another small article questioning the circumstances surrounding the plug pulling, from well outside the traditional cycling media.

This kinda sums it up for me....

And the question is: for the rich, powerful, and politically connected, who are an asset to corporations, the philanthropic community, legislators or agency appointees, will they remain unscathed? The answer is of course “yes,” not unlike the “too big to fail” crowd on Wall Street, most of whom remain free.

Therefore, this is not so much a case about playing and upholding the fairness of competitive sports, as it is about playing a different kind of game; one of deception with a free pass posing as the trophy.

But it seems that everyone here wins except, of course, for sports fans, taxpayers and those who still play by the rules. Yet there are those who still choose to believe that goodness and moral character will prevail and make up for the cheating, corrupt governance and corporate malfeasance. One can only hope.

Kind of odd that Pharmstrong had to spend so much money to address this very small subculture. Congratulations on your career and I'm sure there will be more loaded scumbags that require this kind of service.

I find comfort in knowing that he has spent at least all of what he earned from that Thrift Drug fiasco.
