The only thing of value Van der Poel can claim above that is WCRR. Pogacar can claim a TdF podium overall, 2 TdF stages, 1 major one week race, 2 major non-monument classics and WCRR podium.
You make it sound as though the WCRR is second rate compared to monuments...

if the question is van der Poel or Vingegaard it's exactly like the movie Karate Kid; privileged corporate guy, figlio d'arte two generations back, hero to the establishment vs scrappy outsider, the runt of the litter, needed to work in a factory, older asian man crucial teacher (maybe? not sure about the asian man part)

Vingegaard is out of the Velo d'Or. No chance.

But if you want to play...at least be serious about it :) If you put underdog and a Danish man in the same sentence there's not even much credibility to start with.

Multiple people bringing up how big the Tour is but MVDP didn't even record a single top20
He doesn't give a damn about the Tour, he rode it like a prep race for the Worlds, and he's still the best rider of the season! Grande Van Der Poel!

Seriously, you post so much and so often that it really gets boring to read you sometimes. No, Primoz does not deserve to win Velo d'Or. Sorry.

Yeah. I don't have a life and am mostly a boring person. I tend to over compensate for it. Sorry about that. As for your assumption, on how Rogla doesn't deserve it. Get real.

Point taken. Now it's an off season again. Deserving paper favourites to be determined. Social media influencers to have a say in it. The same *** as last year and years prior. I am much more of a the rode will tell believer anyway. So see you at beginning of the next season again. Meanwhile feel free to have a fest, discussing on how Rogla doesn't even come close. As this is basically the only part of the season you can have that. So let it be.

Winning 2 monuments and WCRR in one year always seemed much more within reach, even someone like Kristoff wasn't very far away of doing that in 2015.
Is that's why only 3 riders apart from Van Der Poel managed to do it?
And Kristoff was not really close of doing that in 2015.

This year I cannot see how. If he won Vuelta, perhaps. And I believe he could have won it. But he didn't. So his achievements are a bit off compared to Pogacar, Vingegaard and MVDP.

And I was talking about Van der Poel precisely...

Just because Van der Poel is not as versatile as Pogacar doesn't mean the bar should be set lower for him to win the award.
Only on a road forum would anybody say that, and with a straight face. Current World champion on the Road, and CX World champion (and in year's past has won MTB World Cups) If that's not versatile, I don't know what is.

Doesn't need to be Asian. Pat Morita born in California...technically American => Sepp Kuss is Mr Miyagi

IMO it should be Pogi, he had a super season and without that injury could've been sensational! MVDP is a close second so wouldn't mind him winning it as well.

Clearly should be Vingegaard as he clearly should have won the Tour de France & Vuelta a Espana double!

Hasn't happened so it doesn't matter much who inherits the Danes Velo d'Or due to the distortion of competition.

With all due respect for Pogacar & Van der Poel having fantastic seasons.

The road did tell, and the descent of Ganda decided that Rog would not match Pog in the Vélo d'Or race.

I think I figured out CyclistAbi😁 He wants Roglic for himself. Using the mechanism of irrational posting, he tries to alienate rational Roglic fan from the man himself, leaving him (CyclistAbi) as the last of Rogla fans. Some sort of Daniel Day Lewis😁
