I think he said 30 secs better on his actual time, not 30 secs to Wiggo which is obiouvsly impossible on such a long course.

He's not so bad tho, he's 19 secs far from Menchov, not exactly eons, so if we consider he's still missing something from his top form, and considering we're talking the final TT in the Tour, I can see things going much better come July.

What if i told you it actually is really bad:rolleyes:

Jesus Dekker_T, must this be yet another Gesink vs. the world? Nibali didn't have a leader's jersey to defend.

And yes, he's way overrated as a TTer, and yes, he'll struggle to make the top-5 in the Tour, but that's a different story ;)

Bravo, that was a great segway, using DT to stab Nibali in the back.

There is still time to improve. In 2009 Contador lost a minute to Evans in the Dauphine TT, while he won the Tour TT. In 2010 he lost 2 minutes to freaking Janez Brajkovic, and he went on to win the Tour again, while being sick during the TT.

Let's see how he climbs first, that will say a lot about his overall form

we had a glimpse what might come in the tour, one thing for sure NES have to work together on some technical descend to take sometime on W, and i do hope this strategy will work

P.S. S is not Andy =)

This guy is more worrying. He is not like Andy who can suddenly come to the tour with great form.

I stand by my prediction earlier in this thread that Nibali would come to the TDF too tired and out of shape. Not everyone can hold amazing form all season (like Wiggins). I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm starting to worry about Nibali. Sucking in California, while not exactly expected, wasn't that strange either, but with one race already in his legs I expected him to be at or near his usual level here.

Nibali is building up, after LBL he's not been as good...he's improved since TdC where he was terrible. Today he shut it down after he couldn't follow the leaders. I'm not worry at all about his top form for the Tour.

So Wiggins is re-inventing the wheel on how riders should train?

Hmm, train...Call it whatever you want, I guess :p

Hopefully we'll get Nibali and Samu in top shape at the TDF, else things could become very boring!

I'm personally not worried at all, differently from other tour contender he was a factor in the classics season so it's normal that he had to rest for some time. And additionaly he usually get into condition very easily, so i think that by July he will be ready( just look the way he was able to improve in the ardenne week, where he sucked in amstel , he was top 10 in the fleche, and drop everybody on the Roche aux Faucons.)

I think he will be better already in the Italian championship.

I am actually also following swimming, Aussi long distance swimming training is indeed very effective, right almost all the top 1500m swimmer trained by Aussi coach or in Aussi style, that is high intensity throughout the year.

It is extremely boring and you risk burning out. Some top distance swimmer can never reach their top levels after one peak year.

Tour is three weeks so it is interesting to see how Wiggins goes maybe he will changed the philosophy how cyclist should be trained:D

As for Nibali, i think he will be in good form coming into the tour, but he needs to shut down the time loss in the tt if he wants to beat wiggins.

So? We all knew that nibali would leave liquigas a few months ago...i guess its now more official

I thought the original article (5/7/12) was dismissed by Nibali and Liquigas as being false. I guess not!

La Gazzetta dello Sport is suggesting a deal has been done with the Astana team, and that Astana offered Nibali a salary of €2.8 million.

Nibali's lack of showing here, and his signing elsewhere might see a different structure to the Liquigas team at the TdF though with more riders dedicated to providing Sagan with a strong lead out.

And as a previous poster noted, Wiggins season may see a change/revolution to the way cyclists train and approach the season by employing methods from swimming training, maybe in the same way LA/Johan changed training

Nibali working in long ascends in San Pellegrino

Nibali does not want to leave anything to chance. Starting today he'll have a very important work with colleagues in the Passo San Pellegrino, including Ivan Basso who is already there. He'll there until June 22. ""I have to do some specific mountain training, especially on the long ascents that last more than one hour."

"Still, the Tour isn't won at the Dauphiné."

I wonder who else, besides Basso, is working with him?

Do you guys feel Nibali is riding more aggressively this year than the past? He seems confident, hope he can put up a good fight in the Tour.

He was good in the spring.

But in California and Dauphine he was invisible. He admitted himself he isn't going well but hopes to be good in the Tour.

That's my boy :) Do it if you can otherwise save it for le Tour!

“It would be beautiful to take the tricolour jersey and above all the course is intriguing,” Nibali said. “But I think it’s important to be realistic and not get carried away by enthusiasm. I’ve been working with the Tour in mind since May. It’s the main objective of my season and unfortunately, I might pay for that on Saturday as the work I carried out at the Passo San Pellegrino was intense. Although that doesn’t mean that my grinta and desire to ride as a protagonist won’t be just as strong.”

Shark Attack!!!!
