Yesterday on Raisport they showed some images from the San Pellegrino training camp some Liquigas riders took part in preparation for le Tour and the main question was "is Nibali ready for the Tour?".
He answered that at Dauphine he wasnt as good as he expected by that it was an important training step toward July and both him and his trainer said they feel confidents cause the wattage numbers are there next to his best values.
Personally he sounded not really 100% confident but trying to be.

Then they spoke also with Basso and he said that his time is gone for Tour (after saying this he had a little bit of silence like if he understood to have said something wrong) and that he will help Nibali at his best.

As usual Basso was doing more hours on bike than other guys (for example he arrived at the starting meeting point all alone from another direction while others arrived from the hotel).

and when will LiquiGas release roster? I am most interested to know who is going to help Nibali in the mountains besides Basso?

Szmyd.

Nibali looked all right today in the NC. Rode aggressively up until the very last lap, then was dropped on the climb. Much better than in the Dauphine.

Remember that he just finished an altitude training camp (same as Scarponi) so today it wasn't realistic to expect him to be "fresco" (fresh) as we say in Italy; it usually take some days/a week to get your legs rolling.
Indeed before the start today he was pointing at Moser and Agnoli as possible team leaders for the nationals.

In hindsight Liqui should have ridden for Moser, but couldn't have known whether he could last the distance. Would be interesting how Liqui divides the suitable races between Sagan & Moser next year.
Hoping to see more downhill TTT action in the TDF :D

still it was pretty normal,he even raced better than i was expecting.
he will be ready for le tour no doubt, nothing to worry for now

indeed, i think he will be more then ready for the tour. wiggins better be scared because those descents will give him nightmares for years to come :p

Did Nibali say anything about his attacks before the last lap? I was surprised that he eased up after getting a good gap quickly.

Did you watch the same race? Even before he sat up he was already losing ground quickly. He probably saw the uselessness of his attack. He was never going to make it. Better to save energy

Frankly, I think he attacked because he felt he couldn't do it on the next climb. Just to see if he could get a 20 seconds gap before the climb started.

That, and forcing the others to work so Moser could save energy I guess.

LOL I didn't think it was 'good news' that Merckx selected Nibali for 3rd.....but I'll be rooting him all the way...Shark Attack after Shark Attack :)

I hope he and Samu work together on descents, that would make interesting viewing....bye bye Wiggo!!!!

Evans + Samu + Liquigas train = downhill domination! (like in the Vuelta)
