The gesture was nothing to do with telling Nibali not to attack.

It's the not in my house-finger wag thing Dikembe Mutombo used to do on a basketball court. You can try, but you won't get it done.

Of cours Wiggo believes his house is the TdF.
Again, can't say I find this particularly disrespectful.

I refer you to my comment on the same topic in the Wiggins thread:

http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showpost.php?p=938855&postcount=990

I am an Italian-speaking fan of the Shark, who loves watching his interviews, cos he is a prolific, and often quite subtle, sh*t-stirrer.

He is always winding up other riders, but he almost always words his insults ambiguously, so that there's always a plausible (and seemingly innocent) alternative explanation of his meaning.

I suspect that most english-speaking journos, and even native Italian translators without intimate knowledge of Italian cycling, usually miss the subtlties.

Why is Nibali such a whiny little b!tch? "It's not nice for him to turn around and look at me". Cry a phucking river. He did the same thing at last years Giro when Contador let him dangle up the rode and then came around him before the finish. Boo hoo.

Did you guys hear what Wiggings did when Nibali was caught back??

When Nibali was caught Wiggins made a gesture with his hand to Nibali shaking his finger. Kinda like 'don't do this again, don't attack again on the decent'...

Wiggins is such a ****ing **** but **** like that won't intimidate Nibali that's for sure!

Edit: Heard it actually happened at the finish..

there is a pic with this:D

Yep, it won't intimidate Nibali in the slightest.

Wiggins is a rank amateur in the sledging stakes when compared with Nibali ... and (at least until recently) Wiggins has looked decidedly fragile emotionally.

I guess deep down Wiggo didn't feel comfortable enough on yesterday's stage. 10 more stages to go. How long before Wiggings cracks?

change the club? and what is going on with Evans? I was expecting him join Nibali or JVDB :p

I am a very long way from changing the club around. Evans will be my favourite rider. In saying that, I hope Nibali hasn't lost too much energy today after his escapade on the descent and Col de Richermont.

according to Bicycling interview, Nibali said he did not even try hard at all today, he just rode his normal descending and all he think about on the road is tomorrow stage. Is this one of his mind games again?:D

“Today was not a day with a lot of possibilities, but I tried. Tomorrow, however, is going to be much different. Tomorrow we must really attack.”

OH YEAH:D

I really admire Nibali for his riding so far at the Tour. Yesterdays attack was nice, only Sky was too strong. But complaining about a provocative look? I mean...please. I also remember him saying almost exact the same regarding Contador during last Giro. Wiggins always said that he takes his rivals serious, a bit of psycho games are part of every sport, Nibali should know that. But I guess the interview was done shortly after finish so the whining should mainly be attributed to disappointment.

I think it was just Wiggins´ revenge for Nibali´s "Wiggins doens´t impress me"... Nibali is likeable, but in this case, Wiggins didn´t behave wrongly. It´s just part of the psychological war which is going on in the most important race of the year.

Wiggins is so concentrated in the moment, he´ll say "Give it everything in the next 2.5 weeks to the Olympics, then the season is finished with a Tour title and a medal in London" to himself. He´s close to having reached everything he can in cycling - Olympics, Worlds, Tour...
