Nibali vs a Froome at the peak of his powers is like an X-wing vs an imperial star destroyer if we're being honest. Let's hope Quintana and AC have good form or the Tour could be dull.

just make sure destroyer does not destroy himself on (or before) the pave:eek:

Actually, in light of his recent acceleration, I'm going to have to upgrade Froome to Super Star Destroyer in the analogy.

This is a ridiculous statement.

why don't we come back to this statement after Giro. Just to clarify, by "out" I mean out of the race leader contention, not "out" of the race itself. His recovery is getting worse day by day, that is just the clock of the biology, no one can alter it besides some special food. So maybe he can win the Giro (that is still a big if), I doubt he will have anything left to win the Tour.

But the Force man, you forgot the Force. It was with Nibali last year so why not again?

By that logic surely Nibali was rider of the year (2014) and not Alberto, right?

Once again you make an irrelevant point, GC's isn't all that matter but he was talking about a GC namely the tour and nibali hasn't proven anything against Froome in a GC.

thank you for stirring the **** pot by posting my posts to another thread. Are all the religious people this stupid? I am sure your god will be happy with your action. Get a real life, remove your offensive religious signature from the cycling forum. Go to preach your god in the church!

Wow! Multiple things wrong with this post. First off relax. :) 2nd, you don't have to get personal. I do believe there is a way to make it so you can't see individuals signatures. 3rd, I was trying to respect this thread by taking the AC talk to his thread. I've had Nibali fans upset with me before because there was "too much" AC talk in this thread. I did this to keep people happy. I guess I can't please everyone. :) 4th. this is a cycling forum where we discuss cycling. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you would be offended by me wanting to discuss AC and the Giro with you.

I'm sorry that you can't see where I'm coming from. Evidently you didn't read my post. It had nothing to do with guts or needing friends. Thks for the link.

The only chance Contador has is if the Giro is not a really hard one for him but it seems the double is almost out of reach these days even though Merckx sees it differently. Even Contador himself says one month recovery is not enough. If he has a reasonably easy Giro with no injury problems or illness I think Contador could podium the Tour but not win it. If Froome and Nibali have problems of their own then that makes it a much different proposition and Contador's chances increase and I would not discount Quintana if he can get back to his Giro form from last year. He may not win the Tour but he will have an influence on the race in the mountains.

I think we all can agree that after seeing Vuelta a Andalucia, that both Froome and Contador have huge problems with their "on and off" days. I thnik this bodes well for Nibali, who is by far the most consistent rider out there of the gc guys.

His status as the biggest favourite for the tour just grows every day.

The problem is that Froome and Contador's peaks are stratospheric whilst their troughs are still better than Nibali's consistent level of performance.

Which is why he is the least likelyrider to win the Tour amongst the Big 4.

It was the same last year, Nairo not included. Nibs always flies under the radar.
Regarding peaks, Contador goes to Giro first so he's just a bit better than last year at this time of year. Nothing special with Froome, stratospheric as always the moment he starts racing in the year.

I'm more worried about Tirreno than Le Tour since there are certain expectations (Vino included) with that race. Westra has been denied Paris-Nice in order to help Nibali in TA. (TTT)

No, i think the winner will be Nibali or Quintana, Contador won't be at his best but will attacck to have a chance and create chaos an Froome will be obsessed with Contador, so I fancy the chances of the other 2 favourites.
Another thing, Froome faded badly in the third week of the 2013 TdF, i don't know if he's able to ride an entire GT at his best without fading.

Uh huh. Must have been better in the spring in '11 than he was in '10 then as well?

Nibali from last years Tour is far from a walk in the park for anyone, which is assuming he doesn't do better or worse.

I'm really hoping he will be competitive this spring, especially in one day races.
Another Armstrong-like season would be a letdown and Oman wasn't reassuring.

Agree completely.
I'm done supporting Nibali if he goes the narrow ultra peak model again.
