I'm sure it is. I the 'resent Nibali bandwagon' it as a measure of how Nibali was previously appreciated for the way he race. What you're seeing is people's disappointment at the change. I feel it too but I'll honestly be delighted if / when he shows me his true colours again.

oh, I'm catching on. managed to edit before posting a confusing wall of quotes :D

Been a fan of VN's since I started watching cycling in 2009, Electress (and Carols). I miss the old race to win lo squalo too - just waiting for the shark to commence riding like he was born to do.

The only way to get old Nibz back is if he gets absolutely destroyed in July.

well, if that's what it takes, I guess.

Meanwhile, I doubt Nibz winning TdF will do much for his overall ratings on CN. Not that he cares :p

The way he dropped was quite something to witness. The Dauphine has been treated as a training ride by many over the years, but has anyone ever been as blatant about it as Nibali? So tranquilo.

The gambling markets think today's show doesn't bode well for the Tour. Lost some ground in implied probability to win.

I'd say if everything stick to plan, we'll see a monster Nibali in july.
Be afraid.
Nobody cares anymore, hes become a lame ass Armstrong rip off.

Nobody means you?
I, for one, do care.

And I want to see him destroy everyone again, and define his status as the best GT rider of his generation.

Ditto. Would be the first rider since Indurain to win back-to-back TDF.

He's got very long ways to reach that status, don't you think? Winning the Tour this year definitely isn't going to define as much. You're kidding right?

I'm with you after watching it again. It appeared he was in no real difficulty just pulled out of the line and went his own pace. Head scratching behavior IMO.

I agree with Boardman's comments that I think he was trying to look cool about it. It doesn't seem explicable to me in any other way. But I would also say that I didn't detect his being in trouble beforehand. The overall impression was that he didn't give a damn.

Yes it was strange, he didn't appear to be in any difficulty at all. Maybe he fancies a stage win? We shall see

My stream doesn't have Boardman, some guy who is quite good but I don't know his name LOL. he is obviously British and very Sky biased, it gets tiring!

Boardman said something to the effect that Nibs was in trouble but didn't want to show it by acting cool???? He did look pretty darned cool about it. None of his 'tells' were there that I could see. He just 'spit the bit' as we say with horses :).

The more likely guess imo is that he dropped out of that group because he knew he was reaching his limit and didn't want to go into the red - I think he was riding within himself. Don't think he was saving anything for another day - just didn't want to explode.
