At any rate Nibali was impressive, because he attacked at will and put the others in difficulty. We arn't talking about a MTF after several cols, when the likes of his company wouldn't even have been with him, but the type of terrain in which to do what he did was impressive. This also considering the progression he has made recently.

He should be in the same form at the Tour as last year. Trust me.
Sigh.. I'll leave the conversation

Flo, but you are getting emotional, which is the annoying bit, ehm, dear.

Look, if you would actually explain why you think Nibali did not put in a very impressive performance today in light of his impending appointment to defend last year's Tour, then I'm all ears. But don't just emit moderately absurd sentences, and then get all bent out of shape when someone begs to differ.
Damn, got ninja'd :p
I think I stated why I don't think it was very impressive, it might have been just on twitter though, I get confused easily, I said he just managed to drop Reda and put in some classic Nibali attacks, i.e. attack then slow down so the others can catch up again. Not super impressive.
Emotional, not sure how you could know, unless you're stalking me (I hope not) ;)

He doesn't know whether he will be caught. He tries regardless of the result ....that's what people like of him. It's impressive because he does unexpected, reckless, entertaining things
Don't forget that in the process he strained his competitors despite apparently not having gained so much advantage.

He was in control of the race the moment Cataldo dropped everybody ( worryingly for the tour also Scarponi) bar the contenders. From then on he tried every trick in the book to get rid of everybody because he has to go solo to win. He didn't put one big attack because he is not yet in Hautacam shape. He wore out the last two guys left with short bursts while eating a gel and taking a turn to take water from a bystander after over 200k at 30C. The best part was when he pretended to have a problem with his shoe, under 2 Kto go, Reda sizes the opportunity and launches his attack with the last drops of energy just to be counterattacked decisively by Nibs. He is not yet at his best but he is close. Third week of Le Tour will be fun.

Pathetic? I think it's clever. If a rider takes the bait then it's a very smart move.
I dont know, his oponnent was a third tier and Nibali pretended to make mistake with that shoe, so yea, it looks pathetic to me...but its my opinion (and Im biased)

Nothing pathetic about using race smarts. I guess next stop is that counter-attacking is pathetic as well

It's just pathetic to toy with your opponent like that, if you're stronger just finish it off.

Maybe it was pathetic from Reda as well to attack Nibali while he had a mechanical? :)

No, thats part of racing...toying with yout oponent by pretending to have an issue with your shoe is not.

Where's this toying coming from? He baited his opponents to lay down his cards and it worked. He didn't do it to humiliate him, he did it because it increased his chance to win. C'mon folks, be rational about it.

He would have won anyway, he was the strongest by a mile on this course.

And Contador wasn't just playing with Aru durning the Madonna di Campiglio stage to break him mentally, right?
I also don't like it when people just play games, you should just go for the kill.

The expected, most likely outcome happened thus we learned almost nothing we didn't already know. Nibali remains the least likely of the Big 4 to win the Tour.

That said, he will likely reach his 2014 form, meaning the others cannot afford to get outmaneuvered like last year over the cobbles, because with that sort of time gap, he's the clear fav

Disagree with the bolded part of your post, because I believe that your second paragraph is true :p . The other 3 are unimaginative, will attack on the last climb of a MTF, and that's about it. He has a lot of opportunities to do what he did last year. He's the Vino option after all :D .
