Don't care.

I need more tranquillo in victory and in defeat

I like that for a t-shirt. I'd get one as well. Definitely could use more tranquillo in my life as well.

That's his way, tranquillo. He also sleeps very well, often snoring while on the massage table after stages.

I didn't put him in my top-3 prediction on the other thread, I think that a kamikaze attack will not work...but it will happen. And if Vincenzo catches them taking a nap, or if he's not taken seriously, he can win.

I will be curious to see if Valverde was right, and if he responds...or lets other do it...and maybe we'll see something very special.

Valverde said today he fully expects Nibali to attack and try something. He also said they have pay attention for that attack. We will see. I actually think what could be more interesting is if he and Landa together respond? Also possible, Nibali attacks, Valverde/Landa respond together and forces a major selection.

Bahrain Merida saw in Fleche that Movistar can be weakened by making the racing really hard from distance. That cost Valverde the win I think.

I would not be surprised if TBM really tries to make this super hard almost from the beginning, they have pretty darn strong team and we all know racing hard for 260km is probably the safest bet how Nibs could bag this. This is the race of Nibali and all the others really don't matter. So Izaquirres rouling hard, Pozzo and Pellizotti driving the early longer climbs like maniacs... and we might have really small selection in the last 50km or so.

Pulling from the beginning will be a suicide and the first 150 kms are pretty easy, they should be fresh to start pulling from Côte de Mont de Soie and put the hammer down on the sequence Pont, Bellevaux and Femme Libert so in the longer Rosier there could be a significant selection.
If the first group is already reduced (<50 riders) after Rosier and they avoid regrouping the attacks could start already on Maquisard or Redoute because will be difficult to organize a chase.

I so hope you are right, bambino. That would be an edition worthy of the la doyenne designation.

Have my doubts of course, but at least teams got a precedent of how to cook movi and Valverde succesfully.

I didn't expect Nibali in top shape, but what was that? Wasn't he supposed to peak for this race?

I guess Sanremo fooled us all. And his BIB number which was not 31.

Here is how things work with Slongo:
2014 - Oman Green mountain 16, overall 12, LBL 30. Tour de France 1
2018 - Oman Green mountain 16, overall 12, LBL 32. Tour de France ?

Like clockwork.

The illness during Pais Vasco obviously took its toll. I don't think Ronde ruined his preparation for today. Still, I guess he can be delighted with his spring. Now, a good break and a relaxed preparation for the Tour.

Not what was hoped for but after the rest of his Spring missing this target still doesn't feel bad.

Time to get the stage racing hat back on and nail the form for Le Tour

I'm not surprised or worried. With Nibali it is always hit or miss. Attack and hit the wall, Attack and succeed, or hit the wall before even attacking, it all happens to him.
This time it was option 3. *** happens. On to the next races

Yes, no one in the peloton with a more erratic form curve than Nibali. Truth to be told, his season is already a success with a MSR victory and a potential Vuelta win.

The illness during Itzulia definetely hampered him. If everything is okay with his preparation for the Tour he should have a fair chance of winning.

Iglinsky will hunt him until forever.
Anyway interesting spring by Nibali, asking him to win here after Milan-Sanremo (and knowing that he has to win Innsbruck) was to much. Better losing this way than arriving second.
Liege will be very difficult for him to win, he doesn't have to think about that race.
I don't expect him to win the Tour but the season for him has to continue.
Next year he'll go for Ronde-Roubaix I heard

Yeah, great success

For a big success rider as Nibali, only top races such as TDF, Olympic, World championship are real targets.
Of course, he will also interested in great races that he never won. PR, RRV, LBL. May be Strade Bianchi also.

Vuelta may be exciting when Nibali was 25.

Vuelta is exciting, and success, but only when you actually ride it and make a good result, not before that...
