3rd week Nibali is usually stronger and he looks better than 2015 Nibali at the same point of the race, today he looked like on Blockhaus last year.

I hope it was not his decision to chase Valverde. Probably wouldn't have changed anything, but why help?
Cheer up, next year he'll podium another GT in the rainbow jersey.Red Rick said:Rest in Peace

I don't agree. He should've always gone with Dumoulin on the descent. The steady pace afterwards would've suited him better too. Missed opportunity.Rollthedice said:Very good for the type of stage and early on the climbing part of tour, smart today, catenaccio with his human rivals. Sky is untouchable at the moment. He can be the best of the rest.
Time to focus on classics, maybe a shot at one nore Giro.Red Rick said:Rest in Peace

As I was watching the stage, it reminded me briefly of the Peyragudes stage last year, when Froome had his team do an impressive-looking but ultimately quite slow pace, to cover for his weakness that day. I saw Bahrain's work as attempting to put pressure on Sky, rather than helping them out. Obviously it didn't work, but I thought it was a reasonable move at the time. Certainly no worse than sitting back and waiting.SafeBet said:I kind of expected a time loss today, this was not a good stage for him. That said, Bahrein didn't make a single good choice. No point in helping Sky on the penultimate climb unless they believed Froome was weak (which was clearly not the case).

Nibali has said pretty much this.rlntlssly said:As I was watching the stage, it reminded me briefly of the Peyragudes stage last year, when Froome had his team do an impressive-looking but ultimately quite slow pace, to cover for his weakness that day. In the end it didnt matter but yeah, disappointing performance by Nibali today seemingly riding for a podium. Which to be fair is what he can get out of the raceSerpentin said:Chased down movistar and then didn`t even take a pull and help Q in the chase. Stupid tactics, lost me as a fan today.

If Froome is struggling then you do something yourself instead of letting a 40 year old pull the peloton so Sky still has 6 ridersbambino said:Valv.Piti said:In the end it didnt matter but yeah, disappointing performance by Nibali today seemingly riding for a podium. If he really thought Froome was struggling, he wasn't riding for podium wasn't he? It was a mistake of course now when you look thinga back.

Valv.Piti said:At least thats better than closing him down cause you are afraid of your podium, I don't buy the Froome thing. Very half-hearted if that was the case.
