He's got his stage win, and the overall is looking a sure thing barring a complete disaster in the next couple days. :) Hope he decides to attack and destroy everyone again tomorrow now that he's got such a big gap to everyone else.

Brutal performance today.
Setting the record straight can best be done in a (M)TT.

We need a Froome vs Nibali vs Contador show very soon indeed.

So I guess this is Nibali's "wonder year" à la Bertie/2009 ?

I guess so.

Berto beat Nibali by 34" in 2011. That seemed like a huge gap to me. Now Nibali beats Samu by 1 ****ing minute?!?!?!?! I guess Nibali would've beaten 2009/2011 Alberto by 5 minutes in this form. Lolz.

Nah, I think it's better for Nibali if that doesn't happen. 3 minutes on Froome and 10 on Alberto won't be pretty.

Yes, I agree.
Beating Froome with 3 min and AC with 10 will prbably give him a to big of a ego boost

The Nevegal TT was a lot shorter, against a little bit better competition imo.

Favourite for Firenze?

One day races are always harder to predict, but he's clearly among the 3-4 favorites. Italy has plenty of options so it'll be crucial to select the right team.

Hoping he takes the next 2 stages as well :) Time to let it all hang out Nibs!

I've followed him for years and it is so nice to see him come into his own, it's been a steady progression over a period of years. He has reached a level of maturity and power that bodes well for continued success now that he is in his prime years.

More to come from Lo Squalo!!!

Well I have to congratulate Nibali. I never thought this moment would happen but I guess this is it. Time to acknowledge that this guy is definitely the best stage racer of the last decade. The big favorite for next year's tour.

In order to win he must drop everyone, so I don't think so.

He's the best climber not doing the Tour.

If Valverde/Rodriguez/Quintana/Martin go hard in July their preparation will be less than ideal. Froome and Contador you never know but will always be outsiders.

Colombia will be the biggest threat.

Nibali probably still has to attack 1.5-2 laps out to avoid getting marked out on the final climbs. His acceleration seems to have improved though.
