Image the things that Nibali would have done to Andy on a technical descent. :D

Something like this maybe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyv4u4kLwU4 I bet this is the stage Andy would never want to recall, together with the mechanical on Port de Bales. :p
As a Schleck fan I was really upset about this but actually, thank god he is such a bad descender, because otherwise I doubt he would have attacked on the Izoard a few days later.
Anyway, it's actually really funny how Schleck and Nibali managed to avoid riding against each other. Nibali is less than a year older but Schleck got 2nd in the giro 2007 then completely focussed on the tour but became bad in 2012. Nibali had his breakthrough later which is why he never was a rival of Schleck when they were both young, became a real gt gc threat in 2010 and 2011 but he only rode the giro and the vuelta in these years which is why he never faced Schleck and when Nibali finally had his first great showing in the tour it was already 2012 when Schleck wasn't good anymore.

This sport is about guts and suffering. Probably his struggle on the climb was also a reason that led to his big loss
in that descent. I agree that Schleck and Nibbles not having faced each other is funny. Vincenzo was actually scheduled to take part in the 2010 Tour. He participated in the Giro because Pellizotti was suspended a few weeks before the Giro start...

Imagine Liquigas sending the 2010 version of Pellizotti along with Basso and Nibali to that Giro, with Szmyd and Kiserlovski. :D

You mean like, Sky every single one of the last 5 Tours?

Hmm, Pellizotti was genuine winner-bet, and so was Nibali and Basso, so I'd actually argue no. 2012 Sky is the closest

2013 Sky was very weak in some of the stages, and 2014 Sky was one of the weakest teams in the entire race after losing Froome. However, Sky's top 5 guys in other years are easily stronger than these 5 guys.

This was the race after which I became a Nibali fan. Everytime I think of that Giro, I feel great nostalgia.. What a team that was. They stormed basically every mountain stage in that Giro. :D

From that liquigas have come out also the likes of Sagan, Oss, Viviani, Guarnieri, Bodnar, Sabatini and others. It would have continued to be a fantastic team...

Nibali only started winning big races when he left Liquigas. Probably should have left them earlier. Same goes for Sagan.
I don't know when he signed until 2012, but for 2012 alone it would probably have won him an LBL

What's your definition of a "big race"? Coz I was certain the Vuelta counted as one...

add the word consistently to it.

6 years at Liquigas: 1 big race

Since he left them:

2013: Giro
2014: Tour
2015: Lombardia
2016: Giro
2017: Lombardia (and possibly the Vuelta)
2018: Milan-San Remo

While it's true he stepped up big time with Astana it's also his development coming gradually with age. Also you need that bit of luck to win really big races like not being caught in the last km by a certain Kazakh rider and not having USPS riding Le Tour on a parcours designed for them.

Gilbert calls Nibali the most complete cyclist of the last 30 years:

"On ne peut que complimenter un coureur pareil. C’est le plus complet de notre génération, voire même des trente dernières années"

Nice compliment by Gilbert.

Perhaps he's looking for a companion on a long range attack in De Ronde

Speaking of Gilbert and Nibali, Vincenzo's first big win was in Plouay 2006, 21 years of age with Flecha second and Gilbert in a group some 30 sec. down. In the same year Nibali finished on the podium in Eneco Tour, 3rd just above Gilbert.

Is he gonna ride Amstel this year? You wouldn't say if you look at his results, but almost every time he rode it he was in the offensive. Would like to see him in a similar break like last year.

Yes. Ronde, Pais Vasco, Amstel, Fleche and LBL.
