So in 48 hours, we've gone from almost withdrawing from the race, to winning the stinkin' Giro?

uh. Yeah. Seems legit.

Good thing Valverde is there to lend some legitimacy to the podium.
Yeah, it's like me, when I was younger, I'd do max effort exercise and spend the next week hurting. Now I'm fresh as a daisy the next day. I'll go out drinking the night before and go run 10k back afterwards and everything, yet my body handles it so much better now. #OldGuysRecoverFaster

Serious question for the Clinic.

I was under the impression that doping was all about micro dosing over a longer period these days. Is there really something out there that can juice you so quickly that is undetectable? I mean this is amphetamine territory isn't it and there's no way that would get through the controls.

I'm sure Vino knows people so that it would get through controls.

A blood bag will give you an immediate 5% boost and is somewhat safe to use in a race.

Most modern drugs are designer drugs, altered so they are completely undetectable. He could be on everything under the sun and there's a 0% chance he'll get caught, likewise with all the top guys because they can afford to pay for such specialised drugs and what not. I expect him to be at another level than the 2014 Tour with the Bahrain money.

The Nibali transformation in the last 48 hours has made for an exciting race and a great story, but it is hard to account for.

I'd like to hear what Kimmage makes of it.

This is just not true. Doping leaves artifacts behind. The only one that is reliably undetectable is transfusing your own blood.

At this point we know the federation is letting the doping happen despite having ample evidence to sanction athletes.

Don't plasticisers show up if you've had a blood transfusion or is that 'unreliable' ?

The Eurosport commentator with Kelly (Rob Hatch?) said near the end of the race that Nibali "is making Italy believe in miracles again".
Hahah brilliant. If he really implies what it sounds like, he must really struggle with being the one peddling said "miracle" to the masses.

Haven't watched es in a while but they have a very strict - pretend doping doesn't exist policy and all their commentators are card carrying members.

The last time I looked, there was no threshold value for plasticizers and no other approved test for a transfusion.
