I think someone posted a Freddy Martens interview at some point that summed it up well...better to go home to the wife and kids with something to show for the week-end away.

So does anyone think Vino bought the Olympics ?
Bought the win, no
Paid Uran, yes

Isn't it just an arrangement where whoever wins pays the one who gets 2nd? So that if Kolobnev had won he would have paid Vino the same amount, no?

Disgusting stuff from a despicable individual.

The world of cycling will be much better off without a scumbag like Vinokourov. He's cheated in so many different ways it's almost admirable.

No, it's not.

He cheated, lied and faked throughout his career. There is nothing admirable with this guy.

He came back to the sport from being forced to retire with a horrific injury, at the age of 37. Isnt there something to admire there?

Don't worry, he'll remain in cycling through a management position in Astana ;)

You misunderstood my post.

I have nothing but contempt towards Vinokourov.

Don't worry, I didn't. ;)

It's just that there is really nothing admirable here. Coming back from an injury? Ok, generally that is. Coming back from an injury while still cheating and lying? That's Vino. As shady as Armstrong but lacking the intelligence.

He should be banned for life from the sport of cycling.
I agree. Combining doping with both tax-fraud and bribery...The guy is simply a criminal with no moral whatsoever.

That being said, I understand those who still liked him as a rider, as he undoubtedly had an entertaining racing style.

100% d'accord.

Vino attacks everyone said:
this is the difference between Vino and every other cool and attacking rider
You don't get it, the issue is not 'how' he wins, but 'why' he wins.
