hrotha said:If this has gone from individual riders abandoning to full teams calling it quits (probably being indignant about the race not having been cancelled yet), I can see the organizers saying today never happened, breakaway be damned.

They just went in a breakaway, and now they carry on as they have more to lose - there's nothing exciting or impressive about what they're doing.
Frosty said:Yeah, or giving everyone who abandoned +30 minutes on the GC or something.
Danilot said:In all fairness, there's no way you can blame the race for the awful coverage.
Because of the economic crisis, they had no option but to give away the TV rights to the only broadcaster that would take them. The broadcaster has very little experience in cycling and THEY are the only ones to blame for the ****-poor coverage.
Given the scale of economic problems in Spain, the race organisers did a fantastic job ensuring the race didn't get cancelled, and to say they deserve to go extinct just because they had bad luck with the broadcaster is... well, ignorant to say the least.

It's hardly the first stage like this in the history of cycling. Weather conditions are part of the sport.Wobbly knees said:How any of you can criticise the riders for abandoning in these completely unsafe and highly dangerous conditions beggars belief.
