From what I could tell with the shadows, Meersman appeared to come from quite far back in that sprint.

Surprised me Valverde didn't work at all. Would think he cares about the GC.. but probably saved everything for the stage win.

That was a strange sprint. Meersman only started like 50m from the end and got round with about 20.

That has always been Valverde's style... the problem is he's not that fast anymore.

Well, Rodriguez also did it, while Gesink was pulling whole the time. You would expect Rodriguez and Valverde to do more work since they're the favourites in this race.

wiggo took some monster turns,super form. too bad he didn't have rigo to launch him for the sprint. congrats to meersman too

Gesink just isn't a very smart rider. The times he has pulled Valverde to a stage win or a good result are beyond counting. And of course Valverde had teammates there.
