Gall also said that the goal is top 5 in GC. No idea what this means for Riccitello.

I also wouldn't completely rule out VPP as a GC contender. He looked good to me towards the end of Paris-Nice, and this pretty mountainous route should normally suit him, unless we get snow and/or echelons again.

Would expect that too, maybe he struggles too much on the punchier parts of a stage though. In pre-race interview he said he's targeting top 10.
Yeah, he won't take any bonis...

Still, I kinda believe in him on those punchy stages after Emilia last year and Milano Torino last week. He's getting more well rounded imo.

When it comes to riders "targeting" a result, my rule of thumb for "Targeting" is:
Obscure riders riding for GC = Targeting top 10-15
Top 10 = Really targeting top 5,
Top 5 = Really targeting podium,
podium = Really targeting the win

I really had hopes in Stites becoming a reasonably profitable cq pick, and potentially even the best rider at Modern Adventure - but it looks like Caja Rural had good reasons to let him go.

He's not the only one of their riders I had expected slightly more from, but there are still 7 months left for them to start showing something.
