Lesson to riders of all abilities.. Keep your hands on the handlebars while descending or few meters before a roundabout going in to the finishing sprint.

yeah I get that, but I imagine loads of the pros drink on descents all the time if theyre not chasing a specific race target and they get away with it.

he followed up by saying those yellow arrow markers werent visible on corner entry. so maybe learnings to take away on both sides.

Hilarious.

Next time a rider dies doing the same thing everyone will be crying, wonder how this could happen, and blame the UCI
And that would be wrong? The UCI has made rule changes for " super tuck" decent position because of instability and the inability to maneuver the bicycle. UCI has made rule changes for extreme inward shifter angles because they believed it made riders less safe. UCI has made multiple rule changes that involve celebrating with hands or hand off the handlebars in attempt to improve safety. UCI has made rule changes to prohibit resting forearms on top of handlebars, rider attempts to get more aerodynamic while riding essentially hands free.. Could certainly see if rider judgement is such that getting food and drink on fast decents are not obviously dangerous.. You can't have a nanny state but you also expect, anticipate common sense.. Instead of being praised or congratulated for risky riding a 5 minute time penalty might be a good start. I love Pidcock for sure, his daring descents are legendary, but when daring crosses to dangerous, deserves punishment..

For sure pros urinate , change clothes, helmets, shoes underway. Pro riders can get bike repairs and medical treatment while moving, they can ride arm in arm ,entire team in celebration.. Enjoy a ceremonial champagne.. Eating and drinking is routine, up or downhill.. My opinion is less stringent if rider only crashes him or herself.. Injury or impede someone else during drinking stunt riding, you need a yellow card, fine, DQ'd or time penalty in my opinion..
All fun and games until someone gets an eye put out..as they say. If a bike handler as good as Pidcock can screw up, anyone can, doesn't make it right.

Just realised who Baptiste reminds me of a bit, it's that guy who got sent down for 5 years for nicking bath bombs from lush and some cookies from Greggs during the riots in Hull a couple of years back.

Real 1s know.

The UCI can't regulate against cavalierness though and Tom was being a little too brazen, if not to say cocky, doing that at 60 km going into a blind turn. There are certain bone-headed mistakes that guys back in the 80s simply didn't make, since they didn't think they could just get away with anything on a bike. In short, they were more prudent and grounded. Ironically, however, they never backed out because of the weather either.

Looks like a good day for the break on paper, but I guess Landa's inevitable presence will kill their chances, and usually Vingegaard still finds a reason to go for the win anyway. There's always some relative allegedly still looking for a birthday present from Jonas.

If I have to watch Jonas kissing that photo of his family again I might have a nervous breakdown.

Nah, Remco will have Lipo up the road so he won't need to chase ("Lipo' was at the front, so it wasn't up to me to chase,").

Todays stage is very similar to 2024, where Pogacar launched 30km's from the finish line on Collada de Sant Isidre. I'm expecting something similar from Vingegaard and Evenepoel today.

I am not sure Vingegaard will try to follow if it happens. It will depend on how he and his teammates are feeling. At first it would primarily be an attack on Gall and Martinez, not on him.

On this terrain, Vingegaard wants to show himself too. Think he would love to ride away and take the win

But he doesn't always like to take unnecessary risks. If he feels his or other teams can keep it under control, he won't have to react like the other day now that Remco no longer is an immediate threat.

That’s true, which is why RBH needs to set a high pace so Vingegaard can’t look at his team

There are other teams that will pace, if Lipo has the legs he will follow.
Tomorrow will be Remco's chance winning a stage, which was one of his goals.
