Very impressive sprint by Davide Viganò, essentially going from 500m out and not tiring enough to be overtaken. Tricky finale too, a very narrow cobbled street.

Apparently all the strangers were thrown out of the race lol lol
Probably they were hanging from their cars.
It's stupid anyway to come and race la grandissima if you are not in top shape. Cause these bad boys will ride like crazy fast

If we're showing LA winning at Senhora da Graça, let's jump back a few years.

I was going to post that one. Aru's older brother, Hernâni Broccoli.

Interesting cobbled section of Alvão. Could do damage in the peloton.

edit: yeah, destroyed.

Sabido never got back to his prime.
What happened to him? Injury? Ban?

Anyway, Samuel Caldeira doing his best to remind us of Cândido Barbosa. Hope Rui Sousa wins!

He got old. Still it was quite the downgrade from pre-2012 to 2013 onwards.

Yes...

What??? Nuno Ribeiro is W52's DS? Who knew? I was still looking for him in the peloton.

It's not that mighty. Excellent tarmac, few KM, not that extreme incline. AFAIK it was brutal, when it was in pave.

I think those ads are corny to be honest. Ricardo Araújo Pereira was never funny solo.

16km to go, gap at 4:40

Cardoso's gap back to the péloton is starting to look quite solid, although he's not a great climber and there will surely be fireworks behind. It's been a long time since we've had a break triumph at Senhora da Graça though - and that would have been 2009 with João Cabreira, surely.

I love Mondim. This is always the sign that the Volta starts for real here. Big crowds, a legendary if not brutal climb beginning here, and it's just annually a great moment in the race.

And it's just around the corner from João da Ega's hometown :p

You read Os Maias? :D

Filipe Cardoso most combative of the day.
