Volta ao Algarve 2016, February 17 - 21

Out all afternoon and just got back, nice to see Contador put up a show and G win the overall. A nice end to the week!

I had never watched a real bike race live (just some Volta a Portugal stages) and so I went to see the TT in Sagres. It was really nice, I would never imagine that it was possible to get so close to the riders!
Campenaerts almost ran over a friend of mine while he was trying to get back to the bus area; I think I'm a fan of him now
All in all, the best part was to have an insight into the personalities of some riders:
- Cancellara just stroke me as the rock n'roll star warming down after his TT, taking photos with people and being nice to everyone. Like a boss!
- Martin seemed a genuine guy, very polite to everyone and a bit shy. It was funny to see Zakarin having to jump to the sidewalk after the TT because Martin was laying on the road blocking it. That's called respect!
- Thomas looked to be quite bored, he didn't really smile to the crowd or anything (I'm a bit biased not being a Sky fan but I wasn't impressed with his attitude).
- I was surprised to see a guy in a Lotto full kit trying to make his way to the podium, asking politely for some space to get there. Then I realised it was Benoot! If it was me, I would be all get the f*** out of my way, I was 4th in Flanders! I hope he gets some podium experience this year.
- Nelson Oliveira was also very nice, talking to everyone who wanted a photo with him. He looks to have his head on the right place and that's a good thing. Machado said he had just got the new TT bike and wasn't used to it; it seemed like a lame excuse to me but whatever.
It was great to scream for some riders like Tosatto, Valgren, Vanmarcke, Boonen, Rosa, Aru or Schleck in some random points of the course while eating pizza

I imagine it's quite relaxed at Algarve. Sounds like a good day.
I've only been to the prologue in Utrecht of the TdF last year and while I had a great spot where I pretty much saw every rider passing me at 5-10km/h(between the teamparc and start) I didn't get to have an idea about riders personality much. The Tour stress and the huge crowds didn't really allow that ofcourse.

Also quite long interviews with riders after the race in their native languages. So all I could understand was Thomas, but I think they got atleast a minute with Contador in Spanish for anyone that is interested.

Yeh Uran started the attack and Contador followed and went over him. Contador looked really good.
Allthough you can't see the entire climb he seemed to be dancing on the pedals pretty much all the time.

That doesn't matter - Australia is also very hot.
The problem with Oman is that no one is really interested in cycling.
