Don't know why people are surprised, Vingegaard doesn't have an explosive acceleration that instantly splits open gaps. He prefers longer and steeper climbs, attrition style climbs.

He was destroying everyone in his path in Gran Camino and T-A last year with huge watts in Feb/March. He’s definitely not at that level if today is anything to go by.
