Almeida was dropped earlier and is probably not great now either, so he won't be the one to force a selection on the upcoming climb. That would have been his path to the win, a selection in the bunch that would make several ride hard there.
Almeida is the type of rider whose engine takes a lot to get going so I wouldn't be surprised if he starts drilling the last climb and drops most of the group.
But of course this could be just a bad day for him.

He was dropped earlier? If that's the case it would explain why Ayuso hasn't helped chase.

Rain and Almeida don't go well together sadly.

Gained a minute pretty quick now...

Higuita and Carapaz has hopefully saved something for the last climb. Could recover a bit on the descent. TT together to the line.

It starts to seems that the peloton will bring back Carapaz and Higuita. They may pay an heavy price for putting such an earlier effort like i said earlier. If they make it chapeaux.

Once again, the peloton works for UAE
Is that strange really?
UAE seems not capable of doing it themself. What does for example UnoX benefit on letting Carapaz pass Halland Johannessen in GC? What does for example UnoX benefit from not being able to fight for the stage win today?

A lot of times in cycling there are settings were there is no reason to help the leading team, but here it's clearly to the benefit of several teams to chase the attackers back.

Groves still in the peloton?

Any other BikeExchange riders? They might help after the climb then.
I think I've seen a couple. Not sure they can bring the attackers back on their own but Groves being in the peloton could change the dynamics once the climb is done.
