GC riders that lost time:

Yates, Woods, Carthy, Vanhoucke, Hindley, Yates, Dumoulin, Meintjes, Storer, Pacher.

And Sosa blew completely away in the wind, it seems like. Maybe he got a new bike after his crash so his time wasn't registered, one could hope for that.

Knowing him the first explanation seems a lot more likely but ok.
Carlos Rodriguez and Santi Buitrago also in the +33 group.

An excellent first WT win for Groves who has been knocking on the door all season - He started to improve in the last month of 2021 - The improvement is down to two reasons - The first one is crashes - He crashed in his first three stage races in 2021 necessitating time off the bike - Second he has improved his positioning in the last 3km - Gotta say that leadout from Matthews between 700 and 500 metres was impeccable. Groves will ride the Vuelta where a win is possible.

Who's favorites for tomorrow?

I would say, Simon Yates, Nairo Quintana and Valverde.

I hope Yates has his legs of the final stage of Paris-Nice. And I hope for a nice battle between Nairo and Valverde.

TBH, the startlist is full of good climbers. Trek‘s Skjelmose will want to get his first professional victory… :)

Valverde, Quintana, Higuita and Masanada

Yeah, Masnada could be strong. I hope it, so that you can celebrate :)

BTW, it‘s always a bit risky, cruising through the Pyrenees at the end of March… I like these images, when the riders are strolling through these snow-covered mountains. Problem is that these stages are always in danger to be cancelled, if it should snow too heavily - for example.

But seeing Nairoman strolling through the Pyrenees at the end of March is one of the best pictures we get to see all cycling season :)

Time for Almeida to compete and win at this WT one week races at the beginning of the season. Honestly, only Yates can distance him tomorrow and he should have the fastest sprint of the remaining.

Almeida hasn't really impressed this season. I think that Valverde, Higuita, Woods and Yates all have a good chance of beating him. But I agree, the finish suits Almeida, and we should probably start worrying if he isn't at least top 5 among the favorites here.

Skjelmose for tommorow? This young guy both fast, punchy and can climb.
he looked pretty banged up to me. And tbh, yes, he can do all those things above - but I'd still think there are a couple of guys who are just better.
