Carols, Blanco because the moment Remco attacks and can't drop Roglic, he should stop. use his brains. ergo --> this stage would have become nothing fun.

Previous climb stage? same story Remo pulls to long, not using brains. should have stopped
The Vallter stage? same thing, Remco pacing way to long should not have attacked and just wait for the final km.

In all these cases, its about using brains to wait for the sprint and do as little as possible. This is the fancrush of the supporters of Roglic.

The others who fancrushing (like me) enjoy people going for the win. try things, play around. If it doesn't work it you are called stupid, if it works out its called brilliance. But at least i enjoyed/went up in the stage.

While some are saying you race to win, that is true in some form. But in fact sports is a play used to entertain people. The sponsorship are because people watch a sport because it is entertaining.
Just imagine if MSR without any climb at the end, just 300km and a sprint. People are now already skipping the first 275km

Nice sentiment but come on now let's be real: anyone saying Rog should have taken turns with Remco & worked with him is clearly having a laugh. I mean this is pro-cycling, not the PlayStation. Imagine if Rog works with Evenepoel & gets stuffed in the sprint? (or worse, dropped). He could lose the jersey in a mano-a-mano scenario on the flat & everyone knows it. Evenepoel fans absolutely know it, hence why they're picking on Roglič for not falling for the trap.

All is fair & the stage was very entertaining, yes, in large part thanks to Evenepoel & his offensive temperament. But there's a line between entertainment & imbecility, i.e. Rog endangering the jersey just to duke it out with Evenepoel on the flat 24 hours after beating him on a MTF? Yeah that wasn't going to happen.

Everyone?
In their country Roglic is more loved and popular.
Here also...
Pogi had alot of time last year to study Jonas' seat post. When he chose to overcommit; he lost that view and the Tour. Pogacar will cooperate when there is something to gain or he knows he is strong enough to add a little more and finish you off when the grade gets right. His long range wins came at points in the terrain where draft and teamwork have less value and his confidence like the odds of going solo. Remco does that on one day races quite nicely, too.
Being a showy loser isn't a ticket to popularity, though.

Nobody said it isn't fair, or a valid choice. But that doesn't mean people can't find it negative riding either.

And what made you fall in love with the sport? Wheelsucking?

I don't even remember why. It just happened.

At least it allows us to watch back to back with Gent Wevelgem, I preferred they did it with the E3...:)

A little bit of overlap is fine. It's when the races are about to finish at almost the same time it gets a little... complicated.

I like the fact Roglič is getting inside Evenepoel's head a little. It bodes well for the Giro. Both are very evenly matched yet have almost completely polar opposite temperaments. It makes for a fun duel.

I like this. Same for me. First you fall in love, then you grasp for reasons to explain but the reasons never seem to quite get it.

First TdF I watched when I was little (I mean very little) I didn't understand why the rider with the most stage wins wasn't leading GC. I thought it was like f1, i.e. stages = points.

I've been hooked ever since.

isn't it because our parents were watching the sport and you get sucked into it?

first commenting on who you think might win, followed by loving the way they ride the bike and you trying it yourself. Seeing Big Mick going uphill like a locomotive, followed by protecting Armstrong :/.

But mostly i enjoy the classic RVV/PR, because those were things i love to ride myself, recognizing the places they pass..; the speed difference at which they ride.
Its only later that i started loving climbing (during the armstrong -- very small gear phase) which ironically worked well for me.

And in the end you just pick some riders at random to love and support ;)

I love it because my dad rode pro and has a plaque on the USA cycling Hall of Fame. I was raised on it and when it's the SMART thing to do to follow, you follow. When it's smart to attack, you attack. Daddy taught me that. It's a shame your dad wasn't a cyclist maybe you'd appreciate the sport more and understand how to be successful at it.

I would have loved Rog to work with Remco today, they could have won the stage, Roglic probably would even be the favorite with Remco doing most the work. But such is racing, I wonder if he got instructions from the car not to work and risk losing 4 seconds or something, hard to say. Still I applaud Remco for trying, he is a great racer. He so wanted to race and it wasn't to be.

I am sure Remco is not going to be sending Rog any birthday gifts in the near future.

Imagine the scene is some random household today in front of the TV:

"But daddy, why isn't Rog riding with Evenepoel?"

"Well my child, he's a mean, heartless, negative rider with anti-entertainment blood flowing through those veins".

...

I tell you, if I was that kid, I'd become Rogla fan number one after today. He brings the cool factor in hurting feelings.
