Where was Brennan, I read earlier in the thread that he would have a chance on this finish?

What with him being the new Cavendish.
I would have never thought that Brennan, Roglic, Ayuso, Landa, Mas and mountain finish would go together..

Dunno how to break this to you, but... I don't think Cavendish would have been able to feature on this finish either.

Was really confused by all those comments, this was a 9km/7% climb. Genuine MTF.
I honestly still think it's an easy climb. Yes, not punchy-sprinter-type easy, - I got that wrong - but one where a bigger group can arrive together, if the pace isn't too high.

Obviously, the pace was high in the end though - whatever UAE, Ineos and Quickstep were thinking. They all paid for it in the end, and it was obvious from the start that it comes with bigger chances to lose than to win.

There were riders who thought it was gonna be 30 guys in the end too. The difference is that people thought it was not gonna be raced hard. A gradual climb of 8.8km at 6.8% is not that hard. But they did race it hard. No one said there couldn't be gaps if it was raced hard.

Yeah it's not the hardest climb in the world but it came after 180km and rolling terrain, it wasn't a unipuerto stage. I think most people were expecting a fairly large group (10-20) riders at the end, but there's a huge step between 'fairly easy MTF with a biggish group sprint' and one for punchy sprinters.
