It split behind Brennan and Yates initially. So the guy won whon eventually almost didn't make it. A Lotto guy lost the wheel there, and Van Eetvelt was behind him. He tried to jump but I think he blew up cause a few others behind Van Eetvelt seem to have made the first group eventually.

For me at least the biggest pity is the only time he actually failed in echelons cost him a Tour win. Given how remarkably good he has been in those despite his small stature, that Neeltje Jans stage really sticks out like a sore thumb.
Or he decided after that debacle that he would never miss an echelon again .. .

I guess the bigger picture depends on how to interpret the Saint-Amand-Montrond stage two years prior, where he was the only rider on his team to get on the right side of the echelons. Was it beginners luck or the first sign of an innate ability he showed time and again later. The more time has passed, the more I'm leaning towards the latter view.

Sunday will be tricky but likely tomorrow is on when GC to get decided. Looking forward to that as especially with shortened stage things should get rather explosive.

Brennan looking so good, I hope Visma sends him to the classics next year.

Great to watch this Ayuso-Roglic battle, every day we get new developments.

wtf is going on in this race. Is wind now a problem? Crazy stuff.
edit: well, from below, it looks like we finally have a real cause.

Tailwind on Isidre, and on the rolling section before Queralt. Attacking is mandated there.

I'm a bit sceptical Bora have the firepower to really put the hurt on, so it will probably just go to another sprint.

Meh.

It's also a headwind...
I also wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the whole thing. It's weird average wind isn't high in Berga tomorrow, but wind gusts seem to be insane

90 km/h wind? Damn. Ayuso and UAE should definitely hard pace Isidre. Only way he'll beat Roglic tomorrow is by dropping him on Isidre.

Final 2.8 km of Queralt should be cross/tail mostly/

You are right, first part is headwind. Isidre isn't tho, someone should try to make it hard there, but not sure if anyone really wants to. Maybe Visma is bored, it's Kuss his stage.
