Where is that thread where all the jvdb fans, furious at the suggestion (fact) that jvdb is the ultimate tour only rider, guaranteed jvdb would try in the vuelta this year. Like i said, the guy is a worse version of andy schleck. To spend your entire career just doing tdf top 5s. Jeez.

I enjoy it. Most of it is original and can be funny. We have had 2 years of it"jokes" about how mollema then slagter then kelderman and still mollema, will drop everyone and win whatever race they are in by 20 minutes hahahahaha. As well as every stage and jersey hahahahaha.

Saying that machado will win the stage if contador isn't in the break is at least new and indirect, and had only been going on for a few months.

I don't mind one or two comments about it in a thread.
But if it gets to the point where we're discussing if there are better climbers than Machado (and how many of them), in a semi-serious way, it's pointless.

Any news on a break?

Pretty stupid indeed and he'll never step away from it. Funny thing is that he thinks he can podium the tour one day lol

He's certainly not the best climber, can't TT. And he couldn't even do it this year. Then when?

He should ride the giro and podium it.

Machado is such a flop. . . . constantly getting chances from bryuennel only to fail miserably everytime. i am surprised he hasn't been reduced to a domestic role by now.

his best performance has been 3 years ago for crying out loud

all this coming from a portuguese guy.

Rui Costa is about a million times better then machado, is not even possible to argue otherwise.

10. (54) COSTA Rui Alberto Faria MOV 05/10/1986 1418
84. (80) MACHADO Tiago Jose Pinto RNT 18/10/1985 568

although i must say imo machado and oliveira should leave the train wreck known as the Shack as soon as possible.

Then it's moncoutie's win, kinda weird that saxo led this break ride.

EDIT: Ah Saxo is riding, break only has 45 sec.

Why will Saxo care about Moncoutie anyways? If they are going to get a stage win it is going to be from Contador.

Flop is a bit too much I think. He had a very rough start of the Vuelta with crashes. After that he has put a decent TT so maybe he can put a decent break somewhere until Madrid. My advice to him would be: stick to Moncoutie's wheel if you want to get in the break.

Career wise, I think for now Machado should be just playing a domestique role in GT's and lead on 1-week stage races. Actually I think Saxo Bank would be a perfect fit for him: he could lead in a lot of small stage races and then learn from the best if he still has any hopes of being a GT rider.

Another thing that is a bit annoying about Machado is his lack of tactical sense: sometimes he's invisible just because he can't choose the right break (today is the perfect example).

Saxo should just keep riding, let the break up to 2/3 min and keep that pace untill the last 2 climbs. They haven't wasted that much energy considering their climbers and it's only a week left.

And of course Contador wants to win today, I bet he wants to win the next 3 stages.

Considering Contador isn't sure of dropping the others, Saxo should probably let the break take away the bonus seconds.
