Contador tried to out-Purito Purito the whole climb. Trying to be more explosive than him. It ain't gonna work.

Tempo, AC. Tempo.

if Purito doesn't crack one of these stages the GT is his...

Contador must attack from further away ...

Exactly. Last 5km attacks are not going to work right now. He needs to go with atleast 10km, but I'd recommend 15km. He also has to do an extended attack. He hasn't done a 1 minute attack yet, and he needs to.

Also, Contador is going way too slow after attacks. Him and Purito did atleast 3 track stands today. Look at thow fast Movistar passed them after the one.

Sky must allow Henao to go for stage hunting- Froome might recover tomorrow, but he's off the podium. Contador to me "won't make it"- he still lacks that top end to sustain attacks-& Purito looks solid as a diamond.

So the 3 conquistadores taking over the GC. :)

Yeah, he seemed dejected every time purito caught him, but really he had to push it. I assume he will try this at some point tho.

Tomorrow Berto needs to send somebody up the road before Cuitu Negru.

Dropping Purito can be done.

Contador just said he didn't feel as good today, and that's why Saxo didn't push the pace earlier. He's happy the fans got a good show today. :)

as of now he clearly lacks the legs, Jrod is more explosive and just as good endurance wise.

instead, saxo / AC made it a recuperation battle. we'll see tomorrow, but I doubt it will do anything.

Thank God I don't have to work tomorrow. I am resigned to no change in the standings based on what I have seen. Pretty much agree with the post above, AC s improving, but not sufficiently enough to drop JR. AC for the stage win, though.

Said it before but he makes it worth repeating

AC is GT cycling.

Alberto never just rides a tempo.

But he can't

(I wonder how many times I've written that the last few days.)

Valverde also needs to team up with either J-Rod or AC for an attack. He's far enough ahead of Froome and has nothing to lose. If Valverde works together with someone, he may end up in second place.

He does, but only when he is solo or with people non-gc threatening ala rujano

I think tomorrow's stage will be like 2007 Aubisque

and 2 days later Purito will be fired :D

Jesus, I was thinking the exact same thing, it seems like we're back in 07 and alberto is going to get his *** kicked in Bola a la Aubisque.

Contador's constant accelerations might work to break a time-trial climber (like a Wiggins), but only play into Rodriguez' cards. I wouldn't be surprised if he is tiring himself more than he is Rodriguez. Especially those lasts couple of attacks were more desperate than anything else, even Valverde didn't have any trouble responding to that last attack.

Froome seems like a great guy. He's got to lose the white framed glasses though. I can't stand those.

It's not about if he can or can't, he has to TRY. He's going to get second place like this. You HAVE to go all or nothing at some point. The only other option is to hope to get lucky in the last week and win a stage or two.

15 people within 40 seconds on the climb. Schrecklich.

Who cares? It was still pretty entertaining. You can find faults in pretty much any modern day racing, it comes to a point where you just gotta find the fun where it is.

Err I mean, by all means keep complaining.

How is he gonna get the stage win without dropping Purito? Or is Purito gonna gift him the win?

I don't get why people keep saying that. Alberto is undertrained for this race, but he's in great form. He has to attack Purito late, one super attack, win the stage and get a gap. That's it.
