apparently no rider from Sky, Saxo or Katusha in the break anymore
Did they reach an agreement to take things easy?

Valverde was a minute down with a mere 146 km to go and nobody pulled to eliminate him. That would have been fun. Of course it was never going to happen, but just imagine it for a second.

PS: Machado is not in the break anymore.

Crash in the peloton and Dani Moreno has gone down....

EDIT: I assume he's up and riding again. Cataldo (other rider involved in crash) is back with the race doctor

The split occurred on the downhill. The best descenders from the breakaway survived. The Menchovs were swept up

Lol, and Vicente Reynes was the one to make the final split?
They probably helped him stay in the front because he's a funny guy to have around.

(Also I think the split happened in a downhill section)

Today is the day i've waiting for all my life
You've been waiting all your life for...Machado to briefly join a large breakaway, get caught out by a split and being swamped up by the peloton before the TV coverage even started?

I certainly hope you have more to your life than that! :p

Seeldrayers is more than competent downhill as we saw in the Giro. Seems to be almost part of the job description at Astana

It's been a very fast Vuelta so far. Unlike lots of previous Vueltas which usually had quite a few lazy days, but this Vuelta has been besides that lone breakaway guy pretty damn fast.

The average speeds for the schedules have been grossly underestimated in a couple of stages though.
