Vuelta 2017 stage 11 Lorca - Calar Alto 187,5 km

Contador perhaps chose the wrong wheel. Had he been on Nibali's wheel instead of Froome's for that last ramp, he could have lost less time. When Froome motored away he had nowhere to go. On Nibali's wheel he could have tried to latch onto Kelderman, Lopez or even Froome.

Froome has 1,19 on Nibs, everyone else over 2 mins. With the TT to come, even only taking 60 seconds means this is over baring a crash.
Looking at the remaining GC stages only one would seem to favour Nibali over Froome.

Nibali is Froomes equal on longer climbes...this race isn`t over.

The two and a half minutes Froome will put into him in the TT says otherwise.

One bad day and Froome can easily lose 2 minutes...the 3rd week can bring a lot of drama.
A bad day for him on the Angliru for example can easily be enough to gain minutes on Froome.

I want him to win a stage, not finishing 6th in GC.

I wonder if Haig has more chance at winning a GT than any of the Yates/Chaves right now. I just don't see the last 3 ever doing it.

Bad day for BMC and Orica. BMC not unexpected. Great ride by the winner and very good ride by Bardet. Froome looks solid even with a bit of the yo yo.

Is it YO Yo or just his position in relation to other riders Yo Yoing.

Congrats Superman. Grande Squalo, this was just a sign of things to come.

If everyone is healthy, Astana can put in a fantastic team for next years TDF.

- question is, if the management is good enough at keeping the peace, with 3 guys wanting the captaincy ;)

But with Cataldo, Lutsenko, Kangert, LL Sanchez, Hansen, Tiralongo, as well as new signings Villella, Hirt and Fraile.... they will most definitely not be lacking back up in the mountains.

I don't know about that, Chaves is just having a terrible year with injuries and the death of a close friend so I wouldn't judge him that harshly. The Yates boys to me have never looked like real GT contenders and never understood the hype around that they were. Haig is certainly very talented and is progressing nicely.

De La Cruz was impressive - No puncture at the bottom of the climb and he at least finishes with the Contador group if not better - This is the kind of climb that suit Lopez - He's a very good diesel climber.
