Really high speed on pelotón, no break.

There is always this talk about the Vuelta/Giro having lower speeds that the "July Group Ride" and therefore being much easier.

But seems like this Vuelta has been raced Voll-Gas...

Wow, Sky put someone in the breakaway?

First hour: 47,7km/h

Apparently faster than that
The peloton passed Km 0 at 12.35 today local time - 7 mins late, if you’re trying to calculate average speeds. 50kph so far in the stage.

This is a good stage for Contador, only a few riders in the world can follow him if he goes full gas on the last, steep climb.

The intermediate sprint is in the middle of the climb???

The intermediate sprints are a big joke in this vuelta. Nobody target the point classification, and anyway, it only brings 4 points.

Too very different stages. Will be slow tempo and then a hard 20 minute effort from the bottom

Interesting to see a Trek cyclist there, talking about Contador.
Theuns has a good chance to win the stage IMO!

no way, the climbs are to complicated for him, tomorrow is a better chance for him (dixit José de Cauwer))

You think? I think normally the climbs should be too hard for him.
I think they'll go easy on the first climb. 2nd climb, I think he could hang on. Trentin managed it... ;) at least, I don't think he is in the break in case Contador attacks, he's riding for himself
