Congrats Simon Yates, the only rider with balls today
Don't think it's so much about balls. It's about having way stronger legs than anyone else.

Yep.

As Merckx said, it's easy to attack when you have the strongest legs, but when you really deserve the plaudits is when you don't have the legs and keep fighting

This is only my 5th grand tour but oh boy has it delivered. This is why I did like the Vuelta last year as well. Yates really did show lot of character today. Only couple of stages come close (Contador in Alto de l'Angliru) but this might be my favorite one of the ones i´ve seen so far. Chapeau!

Not sure how much stronger than mas and Lopez Yates really was today. Probably a bit but looking at the results from previous mtf's I just don't think Yates really was so much better.

Yeah but how many people would attack like that when already leading
I think a lot would if they knew they had really strong legs, and also knew the climb really well (i.e. no chance of blowing up). I guess he saw Valverde didn't look great as well, and it became a no brainer.

That was really fast climbing.
Congrats to Pinot for staying with Yates.
And Yates taking opportunities when feeling well... one to go.
Kruijswijk good, too. It's a matter of freshness with him.

Another entertaining stage.

Movistar got all wrong today..... and WTF were Mas & Lopez thinking of with the hesitation bs knowing Yates was making time on them?
unless there is masterplan for tomorrow and Yates shows sings of weakness, I'd say this Vuelta is DONE

I wonder if Yates noticed that Valverde wasn't at his best then took off. You can't fault the way Yates races -- he's the anti-wheelsucker. In fact he might be my favorite GT winner -- assuming he can survive tomorrow -- since Dumoulin.

Adam Yates for the win tomorrow. He's barely turned a pedal in anger the whole tour.
