No, he still had a chance. The competition is so weak, Yates aside, that he certainly would have had a chance to gain the 30 seconds or so he would have needed.

Making him lose minutes waiting up for and pacing a clearly cooked Valverde is a terrible decision.

When V was strong, they backed Q.

When Q was strong(er), they backed V.

But ultimately, they had a losing hand, and they lost, so hard to blame tactics.

There strategy made no sense pretty much from the start of this race, well from the start of this season and this is just another example of it.

Really, this what was expected. The two at the front were the stronger at this point.

Tour riders are dead!
