Did you spell Vingegaard wrong?
That's much easier than Prati di Tivo and Pogacar was happy with a mountain sprint there.
Besides, Pogacar isn't absolutely likely to start anyway.

Also, where the *** are the hard mountain stages? What's supposed to be the queen stage here, Angliru with no climbs before the 55 kilometres?

Had the TTT been an ITT and had the Farrapona stage been beefed up into something resembling a queen stage, this would have been decent, but as it stands it is very poor indeed. Never seen this much quantity over quality in the mountain stages, which is saying something given that we're talking about the Vuelta.

Really really disgusting route. Not 1 single decent mountain stage. All about ________/ .

I think the worst of all stages is number 17 to el Morredero. Start of the stage is just at the feet of one of spain greatest "classic" HC col that can be found in Spain. That should have been the queen stage with 3x HC.

I know I am prone to fatalism and hyperbole when it comes to Vuelta routes, but this is simply the worst route in recent decades especially taking into account the potential it had without even changing any start and finish.

They literally went out of their way to make bad stages.

The climbs were right there for the taking, but no.

Just put Cobertoria or before San Lorenzo (or before Angliru). or Cruz de Linares + Maravio + San Lorenzo + Farrapona.

Just climb one of the millions things you can climb in Andorra before Pal.

Just do Cantó + Bonaigua before Cerler.

Morredero is the worst of all... how could they start in O Barco and not climb anything before Morredero, I didn't even know that was possible. You're starting in Galicia, climb Ancares or Fonte da Cova, that's two proper HC right there for the taking! Or climb Llano de las Ovejas, another hard 1st/HC that's right there.

Hell, they didn't even use all the climbs before Bola del Mundo!

And that's not talking about all the other mid-mountain stages, left meh for no particular reason.

I can only hope they're doing this in an effort to attract an post-Tour Pogacar.

I agree with Red Rick, I think I'm just going on another cycling hiatus for a couple of years, all GTs are becoming much worse than they were just 10-15 years ago, and they were worse then than they used to be before that... it's just all so discouraging.

Christian Prudhomme is the Tour de France director, he has nothing to do with the Vuelta organization.

I think someone who has enough time should re-design the route with the same start and finish locations. Maybe I may have a go at it in a few days.

Every route is tailormade for Pogacar but this one... is even more.
If he wants, he will win stages 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20. Of course he will not win 12 stages but with almost any stage being a _____/, UAE will not have a hard time to control the break and Pogacar will definitely win (at least) 6 stages.

Christian Prudhomme is the Tour de France director, he has nothing to do with the Vuelta organization.

This has been explained to them about 50 times, don't even bother.

I quite often give the organisations a bit of a pass because you don't know how difficult it is to negotiate with local governments and what deals they have with certain towns. This route however, would be easy to have better stages with the same start and finish towns for most of the major mountain stages.
The unipuertos look average at best, unless I've missed something they aren't hard enough to offer much after a flat run in. Personally I prefer the rampas inhumanas on the unipuertos and the steadier gradients on big mountain stages where the accumulated fatigue means a climb doesn't need to be so steep to create good racing, this route offers the complete opposite. 3/10

I don't know tbh. I have a theory that Vingegaard is nailed in for the Vuelta and with this kind of stages he'll be forced to attack early-ish on the climbs which means a lot of energy spent by Pogacar which isn't perfect for the Worlds.
