Landa, did the mistake today he did with NIbali at the Giro, and Froome did with Contador in Vuelta 2014, that is to go in the flat section of the climb with a powerfull rider at his wheel... No possible to win that way, it is like if you work for your rival. In the Giro Landa thoug it was very important to be first in the last corner and today something similar, but is more advantage to suck wheel on the flat

Flat section was 200m at most  Didn't cross your mind that Wellens can produce more power on the cobbles than Landa, and he rode similar climbs many times, unlike his today's rival...

Of course today was a very good day to see how a rider as Wellens can beat a pure climber like Landa on a 20 % slope, if the surface is cobbles, he was more techinal and he suits better for cobbles than Landa, but I just mean that 300 meters (no 200) in a climb of 1,2 Km , it is not irrelevant, when you get 30 Km/h to be at the wheel is to save energy and that energy has been important at the end, much more than to get the last cobble climb section first. It would have been difficult for Landa to win anyway but I consider that a mistake. He literaly worked for Wellens.

I wonder what sort of effort the dawg done on the final climb, he looked ok crossing the finish line and he must have passed a lot of riders

Froome and Vanendert started the climb together and Vanendert 8" earlier, so I don't think it was thát good. It's hard to say though not knowing how far they were behind the bunch.

Why are the live coverage starting at 15:30, when Wellens has already set off? They will just show the podiums or what

They're not showing it live cause of the Olympics...
Will Algarve be live?

Yes, they're not finishing earlier.

I wondered if they would show it but not-live just like this ruta stage
