Samu wins the battle of the jet powered climbers from Purito.
Did I spy Cobo loitering around with that front group?

Wow, vintage J-Rod attack, but great job by Samu. Unbelievable, should be a good race between them two this year.

On a side note, good job by Karpets, they should just forget about him as the GC guy nonsense, he can actually be a very good mountain domestique.

Indeed. Like he was last year in the Vuelta. Domestique for Purito.

Cobo and David Blanco.
Geox had 3 in the top 8.
All this Spanish climbing talent going well at the start of August.
Meanwhile, Contador climbs off to take his now annual, 7 month holiday.......

It's a shame. He could ride Lombardia and Emillia at least. I guess he isn't a classics guy:)

Yeah, he was actually pretty good last year at Vuelta. Now, the can have Karpets pulling a Sylvester Szmyd, breaking the field down with a long powerful pull, and Moreno to help in higher mountains.

Anyway, I can't remember from last year, but are there time bonuses at Burgos?

The dude just rode 2 GTs, I'd cut him some slack. If he's not banned you'll see action of him in August and September next year :)

Menchov will win the Vuelta. Purito will lose 6 minutes in the time trial anyway.
Maybe only 4min. He seemed to have improved in the Giro, breaking the top100

i hope someone capped this.
damn geox is alive,el bisonte better and better.

I did not expect Denis to show up at this race at all, let alone the very first stage. I thought they might to a good TTT and he could try something on the last stage, but sorta soft-pedal the rest of stages

It's OK. I didn't know Pologne had shifted it's finish forward 2 hours.
I ended up catching just the last 15kms of each.
Nice climax for both.

Burgos almost always one of the best short stage races of the year.

All about manoeuvring small gaps on GC ahead of the showdown on Lagunas de Neila. Bring it on!

4. MENCHOV Denis GEO 04"

8. BLANCO RODRIGUEZ David GEO 08"
14. VALLS FERRI Rafael GEO 19"

Geox coming to life for the Vuelta as the best climbing team like they seemed in the beginning of the year?
