Last year was contract year as well and he was poor, people like to make out he does not try when really it's the opposite, recovering from the iliac artery issue is not easy.
Last year he was also top 10 in the Tour de l'Ain and Burgos and 5th in the Mt Ventoux challenge. He can still get decent results in smaller short stage races and one day races, his recovery on the other hand is gone. He can no longer handle consecutive mountain stages and after trying to hang on for dear life for waaay to long in a gt he just cracks hard.
 
Could watch this race but what happened to Bardet ? Seemed he was going to win GC


Got to say I am very happy to see Aru up there ....what a dreadful few years he has had and he must have fought to get back up there

Would love Landa to win GC as he deserves a break after all his crashes

Bad legs for Bardet, he had quite a drool, but I don't know if the heat got to him.
