Just does it, plus moral victory of the season jersey. He could move in to the top 5 if he goes for it, and gets some bonus seconds?
Guy has been absolutely flying!! Excellent ride for Del Toro and his team mechanic!! Ciccone is really really tough guy!! Doesn't have any pain threshold!!Ciccone now favourite for the Vuelta (a Espana).
43 for Ciccone and 57 race days for Del Toro..so the guys beating Fortunato raced half as much!! UAE doing right thing putting Del Toro on the shelf for a while!! Last year he crashed and had a hand injury for gravel worlds!!Good performance by Fortunato in his 100th race day of the season
Fortunato did not literally do 100 race days, it just feels like43 for Ciccone and 57 race days for Del Toro..so the guys beating Fortunato raced half as much!! UAE doing right thing putting Del Toro on the shelf for a while!! Last year he crashed and had a hand injury for gravel worlds!!
Makes me wonder what Ciccone could do in the Giro. Impressive showing this season by him throughout for sure.
Yeah he's only on 61 but has the Vuelta scheduled and will probably do some of the autumn Italian classics, will be at 85+ by season's end.Fortunato did not literally do 100 race days, it just feels like
Remember when he outsprinted Roglic and Remco a couple of years ago in Catalunya. This is definitely the best he's ever been, but he has a habit of falling (and falling ill) in GTs where he is going for GC.As strong as he is right now, he has always been very strong in short stage races and Unopuertos.
Ciccone also does things alone, not afraid to attack and makes things exciting.. Very very positive style!!Makes me wonder what Ciccone could do in the Giro. Impressive showing this season by him throughout for sure.
He only did..61!!!! Race days!! Can't believe the internet data people!!Good performance by Fortunato in his 100th race day of the season
Thanks for that!! I thought Vino was fully baking every rider for precious points!!!Fortunato did not literally do 100 race days, it just feels like
True and false. True regarding Unipuertos. Liege and San Sebastián especially compared to previous years, its a huge improvement, making the 'what if' scenario what he could achieved in the Giro compelling, if that be stage wins or a good GC result. As strong as he is right now, he has always been very strong in short stage races and Unopuertos.
No. It was an accident. If Pogacar had retired from the Tour, what rule would you have applied to the race? 🙄Biggest asterisk in any race in quite some time, the real question is whether it sparks a rule change.
Clearly referring to a 3km rule on bunch uphill sprints with a categorised climb, not expelling Del Toro or anything ridiculous.No. It was an accident. If Pogacar had retired from the Tour, what rule would you have applied to the race? 🙄
This isn't the first time a rider has lost a race due to an accident. You can't set a rule because accidents can happen in many ways.
If there's no irregularity in the action, nothing can be done. They're called accidents for a reason. They're accidental situations.
I think not applying the 3km rule to those finishes is the right thing to do. If there isn't that rule with hill finishes, there's a reason: to avoid cheating. Faking an accident or a mechanical problem when someone is dropped.Clearly referring to a 3km rule on bunch uphill sprints with a categorised climb, not expelling Del Toro or anything ridiculous.
The issue is of course where the 'peloton' is, and where you install someone like Ciccone post-crash.
Ciccone looked a little better, far from fresh, but he was able to pulse Del Toro a couple of times and got a decent gap!! Ciccone also showed up a couple of times at the Giro..I would have enjoyed if they did something against one another, Alps or Austria.. Del Toro benefited big time from a flying Rafel Majka,Del Toro must be getting tired of seeing Ciccone go up the road, but Del Toro got the GC and Ciccone the stage, so honours shared. Be interesting to see how Ciccone does at the Vuelta.
