Anybody care for a bet that Kittel won't get a single top 3 in the Vuelta?
Risky bet, that is. Some of these Vuelta sprint stages are really not that hard, and softpedaled all the way until the final 20 k.

Saddly, he is very very very poor uphill. I would be extremly suprised if he makes it to Madrid. Actually that would be a miracle.
Theo Bos almost made it to Madrid (he ran into a motorcycle on the final TT).

Yes, but I still think that he isn't as fast as the others in the final meters YET and he doesn't have the experience in top notch sprinting as the others like Cav and Farrar have YET.

if Theo Bos can make it through all mountain stages (and crash out in the final ITT lol) then sure as hell Kittel can.

He's not that bad at climbing as you say now.
He even won fairly difficult stages in his U23 period

(ranked as 'mountain' stage, they only do that at very difficult profiles)

I think you're underrating Kittel. Strange, as he is a german and you should love him.

An avatar of Taaramae in the white jersey of TdF until the end of the year, if Kittel doesn't manage a top 3 in the Vuelta? :)

meh better then my current avatar really
which unfortunately i have permanently, but I'm happy to put something in my sig. OFC you need to put an avatar or something if he does indeed take a top 3

Who will win out of Cav VS Kittel is the real question that should be asked. Is Farrar/ Griepel riding???

Main contenders; Anton, JROD, Nibali, Scarponi, Menchov. I would love for Wiggins to go well but the last week may not suit him with explosive hills and the 2nd week might not either with high mountains ( him not being a pure climber )

JVDB is goin' as well and is even on goin on a high altitude training, he's aiming for the podium i guess as well...

The biggest concern for Anton is that he doesn't lose too much time during the TTT and during the ITT but none of the big gc riders other than Wiggins will be able to take big time out of him.

If he's anywhere near Dauphine form Twiglet will take three minutes out of him. He could, however, lose more than that on the Angliru. Menchov is the real threat to Anton. Fingers crossed for Anton I like the Pope but he has his GT wins already.

Fantastic news, great joy to watch.
If he times another attack right, he could win a stage. Possibly go for KOM.
Menchov and Sastre will no doubt be glad to have him.

Jobiwan, there's a big blank area where your signature used to be. What's up with that?:D You bailed on the AS fan club?

I'm looking forward to seeing Duarte in the Vuelta. He seemed to have just figured out the right balance between when to attack and when not to when he had his injury. He'll definitely bring excitement.

I didn't feel it was necessary anymore. I think enough people know who I support! I've still got the avatar!

The signature is aligned with Andy's racing schedule, I might expect it to reappear around the Ardennes classics!! :p

BMC riders confirmed for Vuelta so far: Phinney, Quinziato, Kohler, Frank, Santambrogio, Van avermaet & depending on suspension, Ballan.

If AB can race there is only 1 spot which I think will go to Kroon or Tschopp.

Isn't Busche riding the Vuelta??? Oliveira seems a bit too young as well. Sergio to get a stage.

Oliveira lasted out the Volta a Portugal last year pretty well - he was top 5 in the final ITT - stepping up to try 3 weeks is the next logical step. It's not like he's a GC guy so it isn't like there's any pressure on him.
