Personally I think it's better for Machado to ride without any leadership pressure. He still has a lot to learn and ride alongside a proven GT contender like Kloden will be a valuable experience.

And if he's good enough I guess they'll let him go on breakaways.

Ullrichs performance in the second TT was simply out of this world: Incredible gaps for 46km.
Damm if they had this TT in the last week of this year's vuelta it would be so cool:(:(

You are not blind. They will probably wait unit the day before the TTT. Steephill has the profiles up.

Steephill profiles are those from the race presentation in January. A few stages have changed their course since then, so the course description you can find in the Vuelta web site doesn't always match the profile. Notably, there's a change in stage 17th where they go to Peña Cabarga through Puerto de Lunada instead of La Sía and Alisas. One less climb and the second last is further away from the finish.

Hog won't be running the Vuelta team, he doesn't normally. Probably Azevedo in charge.

Nelson lasted out the Volta last year, so the Vuelta's the next step up. That Shack team's loaded so he probably won't have too much asked of him and the freedom to pull out once they get to Somiedo and Angliru if he so wishes. Doesn't seem too insensible.

I saw him at the Giro this year though. So he does care about races outside the Tour:p

Just had another look at all the profiles. It really is a marvellous parcours, with only stages 2, 7, 12, 16 and 21 being for the sprinters, and only disappointing stage being 20. Put in another lengthy ITT in it's place and it would be spot on. Should be an interesting GT, with the fresh Giro guys (plus Anton) going against those who crashed out of the TDF early on.

so none of those at the veulta

Anton did the Giro as well, you know (although he mysteriously faded away in the third week).

yeah it's just the pre-selection. I don't think he will ride, just find it interesting that the team still consider him at this point.

Even if he's cleared why would the team chose a guy that hasn't raced for almost an year?
