But even after he outsprinted Gibo for the Cima Coppi, a victory looked unlikely and difficult, but he pulled it off.

It helped that nobody in the peloton was even slightly interested in chasing until the final 2kms

I don't argue that the performance was impressive, i don't even disagree with him not letting gibo take the summit - at the time, a lot of people here shared their disappointment and anger at tschopp - just pointing out my man crush on gibo :p

But yes, as isso pointed out, the chase wasn't exactly rapid.

He was in a pretty good escape group (Vino, Sastre etc). But they also didn't seem interested in chasing on the Gavia.

So what do you guys think are the chances of Xavier Tondó, if it comes to a sprint between the best 10 or so climbers?

Ive been talking him up big time since he and sastre did well last hilly stage, though part of me doesnt want him to win since a virus prevented me from getting him onto my fantasy team.

Harmon expects a minimum of 16 riders contesting the finish

I was expecting a lot less than that.

It's a very easy climb until the last 2kms.

The mountains don't REALLY start until the weekend

From 4.4 to 2.4 km from the finish it averages over 8 %.
I expect attacks to start there.
Nibali looking ominous.
