If they don't have anyone in the break, they will chase and set it up for Goss.

Not sure about that. I like the idea of Goss being in the breakaway more.

Is rabobank the only Protour team without a Gt stage victory this year?

Footon. They were MIA at the Giro, and had a 2nd place on a stage at the Tour, but I don't think anybody has expected anything of them. Milram are yet to get off the mark as well.

Goss: "Rain in Spain! Of course it has to be the day when we have 230km in a headwind!"

It doesn't sound like somebody who is excited to race today.

no attacks so far after half an hour of racing. Is there a protest again or is it just because of the length of the stage that nobody wants to sacrifice himself?!

Maybe they are thinking about tomorrow... I feel tired only thinking about watching the stage tomorrow... if I was going to race... :D

The breakaway:

FLORENCIO Xavier (005), ORTEGA OCANA Manuel (026), JUFRE POU Josep (038) y ROELS Dominik (194)

Looks a bit doomed...too easy for the bunch to reel in.

The ghost of L'Aquila just swept over Toledo.

Sweet memories from the Giro can all act up today.

Laquilla was good because it set the stage for the mountains, where all the super climbers and favourites would now have to attack because they were minutes behind. The mountain before - Terminillo, was not contested. The next mountain - Grappa, had to be as were all the others because dropping Arroyo was a neccesity to anyone who wanted the Giro.

Here we are on stage 19 with 1 mtf and 1 sprint to go. a laquilla would totally ruin everything. There wouldnt be enough time to overturn a 8 minute gap or even a smaller one. The stage is ser perfect for the Mosquera Nibali showdown. Lets hope it stays that way.

I wouldn't worry about that. I couldn't watch the Giro, but it is my understanding L'Aquila was possible because at first no one wanted to take responsibility for the chase, right? The roles are too well defined now, and Liquigas and Xacobeo would work together if it came to that.

Im just telling those hopeful for Laquila - becareful what you wish for. I dont expect it to happen. Also my understanding was that it workded because the peloton was given wrong information, and didnt know who was in the break until it was too late.

and Milram of course

I first thought Astana didn't win a stage because Contador didn't, but I forgot about Vinokourov

Exactly the same thoughts i had.

Have they won in Vuelta ? No
Did they win in Giro? Vino held pink but didnt win so No
Did they win in Tour? Contador didnt.

But at the last minute i remembered the stage Purito won and how close Vino was and then i realised Vino won one too.

Would have been a nice stat if the tdf winners did not have a single stage win all year in gts.

Refering to L'Aquila wasn't that smart of me, it was more of a comic response to what hrota wrote about bad weather and that the stage might be a bit more demanding than we all first thought. Of course I want the battle to happen at Bola del Mundo. Given its name and steep slopes there is no other place I would like it to happen. :)

Roche has had a puncture and is waiting for a team car. At least he doesn't have to rely on Gadret this time around.
