Can any norwegian posters give me a rough jist of this article?http://www.procycling.no/article2972640.ece ? I can't seem to get google translate to work on my iPad

Nordhaug only has a cold. But he ended quite well, only 30 seconds back from Gilbert, but that it could've been better, but he needed to help the team leader Löfkvist .

Oh yeah, nd that half the team had diarrhea

edit: Damn you Roundabout! :p

Half of the team have stomach problems (diarrhea?) while Nordhaug "only" has a cold. He could have finished higher on the stage but had to work for Lofkvist

Cheers muchly, someone had given the idea on Twitter there was some controversy in it

Cavendish said he threw up a few times during Stage 2. Rabo's Mauricio Ardila was also sick during today's stage but attributes it to the heat.

I used to play hours of tennis when it was up to a hundred degrees out and never had a problem as long as I had store bought ice cubes (they stay frozen longer) in my ice jug. One time I was running late and had to use regular ones out of the freezer. They were soon melted, I drank warmish water, and the life guards at the pool could hear me heaving in the mens room from half a block away. It could be some sort of virus going around, but I suspect it's days of effort in the heat with drinks that aren't (and can't be" cold enough.

Maybe too much water too fast. I had that problem once.

Yeah thanks, I know what cooking is. With your own chef you just have more control. I guess my question should've been "do they have their own chef?".

Marginal losses once again.

Does anyone know what's up with Christian VdV? I know he admitted that he thought about quitting cycling after the TdF but his Vuelta performance so far makes it seem like his heart really isn't in it any more.

I guess ones form is a very delicate thing and quite difficult to perfect. It doesnt help to have been injured most of the season, and maybe he is a bit scared to ride his bike after the dreadful injuries he has had.

Maybe he's just feeling his way back into racing. Then again maybe he doesnt fancy his GC chances and is going to try the breakaways

Didn't he really start riding again, like, last week? It's probably more to do with form than anything else.

I think his finishing position is probably a bit misleading as well. He was in the big group for most of the way up that long climb - must have been dropped in the last couple of kms before the summit and just coasted in

Quite funny how people already think Gilbert is in top form already. He was dropped on the climb, but came back thanks to help of his team. The final climb just suited him perfectly and he went their that day in the morning to check it out. He hardly rode anything after the spring season, so he really can't be in top form yet.

Menchov and schleck were very dissapointing.

Gilbert did not have to try very hard to get the gap. He almost floated off the front and when you give a guy like him a gap you are gone. Rodriguez could of challenged ftw imo.

It that was Gilbert at < 100 % then the rest might as well not show up at Geelong. I'm struggling to think of a more impressive hill finish that I've ever seen

I can think of one this season.

Amstel Gold race 2010. Enough said.

Gilbert will not win the World champs because if I say he will I'm going to jinx it :(

Look at the Geelong profile. Gilbert will not do 7 flat kms alone after that puny last climb. The hype is misdirected. I will join in, however, in the jubilations over his show today.

Well, now you have your vindication

And all of this after a single 2 km ramp. I agree with you BTW, but not on the basis of today's stage. Or do you think Gilbert will win this Vuelta?
No

But go back to the topic with the whole F.Schleck discussion, a few weeks back.

And a short hill more suited to F.Schleck as classics specialist than Anton. Bai the wee

If Anton is already better here, I know how things will go at Bola del Mundo.

You think Amstel Gold was more impressive?
He got dropped on the cat 1, then came back, and put 20 seconds into the top climbers in the world in about 1 minutes worth of pure force. I and lots of others thought he went to early but he managed to sustain it for a surprisingly long period of time.

That was good certainly and a stronger overall performance but referring specifically to the finish - I don't think I've ever seen such an attack off the front especially when you look at who was left gasping for air

Yes, he had already attacked in Amstel Gold, but was captured by combined forces behind him. Then he attacked again somewhere in the final 500 meters and opened up a pretty big gap in a close amount of time.

I fail to see how getting dropped is more impressive then attacking and getting reeled in and then to attack again for the victory.

It's not like the competition in Amstel Gold was any weaker...

gilbert wont have to do it all on his own. People are expecting him to be the best sprinter and least tired from whatever group contests the finish.

Check Paris-Tours 2009.

Which year was the pileup behind, 2008 or 2009? It certainly helped him win one of his Paris-Tours.

What a strong finish by Gilbert.

If that stretch had some cobbles in it, he might have been wheelsucking the ghost of VDB.

It certainly feels a while ago since I saw someone fly up the last hill with that dominance. Looks like Belgium can make itself up for savouring plenty of our autumn fruit once again.
