Nordhaug only has a cold. But he ended quite well, only 30 seconds back from Gilbert, but that it could've been better, but he needed to help the team leader Löfkvist .

Half of the team have stomach problems (diarrhea?) while Nordhaug "only" has a cold. He could have finished higher on the stage but had to work for Lofkvist

I used to play hours of tennis when it was up to a hundred degrees out and never had a problem as long as I had store bought ice cubes (they stay frozen longer) in my ice jug. One time I was running late and had to use regular ones out of the freezer. They were soon melted, I drank warmish water, and the life guards at the pool could hear me heaving in the mens room from half a block away. It could be some sort of virus going around, but I suspect it's days of effort in the heat with drinks that aren't (and can't be" cold enough.

Maybe too much water too fast. I had that problem once.

I guess ones form is a very delicate thing and quite difficult to perfect. It doesnt help to have been injured most of the season, and maybe he is a bit scared to ride his bike after the dreadful injuries he has had.

I think his finishing position is probably a bit misleading as well. He was in the big group for most of the way up that long climb - must have been dropped in the last couple of kms before the summit and just coasted in

Quite funny how people already think Gilbert is in top form already. He was dropped on the climb, but came back thanks to help of his team. The final climb just suited him perfectly and he went their that day in the morning to check it out. He hardly rode anything after the spring season, so he really can't be in top form yet.

Menchov and schleck were very dissapointing.

Gilbert did not have to try very hard to get the gap. He almost floated off the front and when you give a guy like him a gap you are gone. Rodriguez could of challenged ftw imo.

That was good certainly and a stronger overall performance but referring specifically to the finish - I don't think I've ever seen such an attack off the front especially when you look at who was left gasping for air

Yes, he had already attacked in Amstel Gold, but was captured by combined forces behind him. Then he attacked again somewhere in the final 500 meters and opened up a pretty big gap in a close amount of time.

I fail to see how getting dropped is more impressive then attacking and getting reeled in and then to attack again for the victory.

It's not like the competition in Amstel Gold was any weaker...

gilbert wont have to do it all on his own. People are expecting him to be the best sprinter and least tired from whatever group contests the finish.

It certainly feels a while ago since I saw someone fly up the last hill with that dominance. Looks like Belgium can make itself up for savouring plenty of our autumn fruit once again.
