everyone wants to be in that group, because that could be a good move for the leader jersey.
HTC won't control the bunch today.

TXURRUKA Amets (077), GUSEV Vladimir (184), VANENDERT Jelle (139), KREUZIGER Roman (125), KADRI Biel (016), PEDERSEN Martin (087), PETERSON Thomas (106), OROZ UGALDE Juan Jose (076), FRÖHLINGER Johannes (195), GARCIA DA PENA David (214), O'GRADY Stuart (207), BAKELANDTS Jan (131), NORDHAUG Lars Petter (167), WILSON Matthew (108), GARCIA ACOSTA José Vicente (054), TONDO Xavier (009), MORI Manuele (117), RAMIREZ ABEJA Javier (028), TEN DAM Laurens (158) y SIUTSOU Kanstantsin (176).

The breakaway of the day seems to be:

TERPSTRA Niki (198), CHEREL Mikael (095), MARTINEZ Serafin (217), MARTINEZ DE ESTEBAN Egoi (074), RAMIREZ ABEJA Javier (028), KADRI Biel (016) y VANENDERT Jelle (139)

1 min lead over the bunch.

And they don't. Too many dangerous names in that group and the memories of l'Aquila are still fresh, so the peloton brings them back in.

Now journeymen including Ramirez Abeja, again, in a breakaway.

Yeah, race ticker says the bunch stopped chasing and Cav is now back in the peloton. Seemed to come back quite quickly but that's what happens when they decide to let the break go.

The front group got 7 min over the bunch now. Who's in charge? HTC still got options with P Velits and Tejay.

Up to 9 now. HTC not working according to the vuelta website. They had to work hard to get Cav back so maybe they are looking for someone else to lend a big hand.

Augustyn and swift both abandoned, kennaugh and gerrans really struggling, all of sky team and staff have horrendous food poisoning

Ben Swift abandons. All of Sky ill overnight.
Peter Kennaugh will be the next to drop.
Still, it will give ACF something to bang on about.

A lot of riders off the back already.

When he wakes up he can throw a party, not that anybody would turn up. This will make him the happiest "cycling fan" the world.

I still think it was a major blunder by Brailsford concerning the lineup with no Downing, Hendo, Sutton for Sky.
