Told you Anton was underrated and was going to be one of the best climbers (and such a short hill doesnt even suit him)

Told you F.Schleck was way overrated and is never going to win this, if he's going to podium it would already be one of his best performances.

He's one second ahead of Schleck in the GC at the moment =/

I think it's a bit early to call someone over rated.

Funny, I don't remember you telling us this, not that we needed to be told that Anton can climb with the best.

I do remember you telling us, during Pais Vasco, that Bobby Gesink was a good downhiller and there was nothing wrong with Frank Schleck's bike handling.:eek:

Well, now you have your vindication

And all of this after a single 2 km ramp. I agree with you BTW, but not on the basis of today's stage. Or do you think Gilbert will win this Vuelta?

Ah, we'll discuss Gesink's descending again. Nice

Having your own chef doesn't make you immune from food poisoning. Even the very best chefs can fall victim to it.

Yeah thanks, I know what cooking is. With your own chef you just have more control. I guess my question should've been "do they have their own chef?".

Kennaugh was dead last today though, so doesn't look like Britain's "future GT winner" is in particularly good shape at the moment.

there were 50 riders came in within a minute at the end of the race, he just happened to be the almost last of them, Mauricio Ardila was actually last 10 seconds further back. The kid is there for the experience of his first grand tour, nothing else. How did Lance do in his first mountain stage :D

As far as I know it was just Augustyn, Swift, and Gerrans along with some staff hit by the virus, and the rest seem ok.

Yes, the main chef joined them earlier in the year from saxo, although wether she is cooking i dont know, if this was even food poisoning we dont know.

Well done Frosty:
Gilbert for the win today and to take red too.

All the UK press ravings over Brailsford's/British Cycling's dominance in the Beijing Olympics was over the attention to detail, and making sure that everything the riders needed to perform was the very best possible: it would seem to have been the team least likely to fall to a dose of food poisoning.

There are only three of last year's top ten in this year's Vuelta: two of them had good days today, but poor Philip Deignan, who was only 11'08 down after 3 weeks last year, is 21 minutes down after 3 days this year. Not the best way to go about seeking a new employer when you're about to be made redundant.

Brailsford saying it's not food poisoning- riders and staff eat completely different meals yet all are affected, he's implying all riders are suffering, gerrans was bad judging by his own Twitter, and a couple of staff couldn't leave hotel. Very weird?

Anton seems to be in very good form. Hopefully he will also be consistent

It's too early to tell, but so far Schleck has done well considering his less than optimal buildup. I don't see why he can't get better as the race goes on.

WC-hopefuls like Gilbert shouldn't be in top form so early in the race, so I wouldn't put me money on him.
Long shot:

1. Barredo
2. Nocentini
3. P. Velits

193 Rinaldo Nocentini (Ita) Ag2R-La Mondiale 0:25:49
:D

I was looking at the results of today and noticed Nocentini all the way down the list and I remembered someone putting him down as a favourite for today. Had to post this :)

Andy Schleck dropped. Makes his statement that a Schleck will win this Vuelta, he just doesn't know which one, even more preposterous.

Seriously! He finished, what, 14 minutes back? Guess he's too tired from the TdF indeed!

I'm happy to see Nibali doing so well.

I suppose I shouldn't have peeked at the results but I'm still looking forward to watching this stage on Universal at 8PM!

Thank god I didn't put money on him, I'd end up paying out to the bookmakers :D

If it's contagious then we're gonna have a lot of riders throwing up tomorrow.

This kind of stages are good for La Vuelta.

For me it's sad that guys like Contador or Samu don't run in their homeland, they are the ones who could help the Spanish GT to take some prestige. La Vuelta deserves that.

Half of the team have stomach problems (diarrhea?) while Nordhaug "only" has a cold. He could have finished higher on the stage but had to work for Lofkvist

Cavendish said he threw up a few times during Stage 2. Rabo's Mauricio Ardila was also sick during today's stage but attributes it to the heat.

http://www.biciciclismo.com/cas/site/inicio.asp

I used to play hours of tennis when it was up to a hundred degrees out and never had a problem as long as I had store bought ice cubes (they stay frozen longer) in my ice jug. One time I was running late and had to use regular ones out of the freezer. They were soon melted, I drank warmish water, and the life guards at the pool could hear me heaving in the mens room from half a block away. It could be some sort of virus going around, but I suspect it's days of effort in the heat with drinks that aren't (and can't be" cold enough.
