Kash, Sastre and Tommy D all losing more than a minute and a half.

Ah, Velits makes a bit more sense than Tejay. Good ride from him.

What a last k, those guys climb FAST, even on 20% grades. Anton looked amazing, will Gilbert hold on to red?

Tejay DID do well, and Tommy D was only 36 down, the Garmin in the Sastre group was Thomas Peterson.

How much time did Gilbert lose? He had 14 seconds over Rodriguez - if Rodriguez came third then i think he gets eight seconds time bonus? Anton was 35 seconds back before this stage and he'll get 20 seconds so probably not enough. Nibali was 28 seconds so 12 (?) seconds for second probably brings him just up short as well?

Ah, cheers Roundabout!

5 Caisse d'epargne in the first 19 - not hard to see why they are favourites for the team classification.

Gilbert with another stunning ride. I thought he would be struggling to hang halfway this finish climb, but he's right near the front.

If he can now do these sort of long steep things too against some of the best GT climbers, several of the classics might as well be called now and save all of us the trouble of showing up and going through the whole messy process.

So... Do Tondo and Ruben Plaza inherit the captaincy of their teams now they've both shown to be in better form than their higher paid teammates for two days in a row?

Not unless they show the same thing on proper long MTFs as well.
