Nice sprint, can't wait to hear Cavendish's excuse now: "35 C temperatures mate, I mean you can't really prepare for the totally unexpected high temperatures in Southern Spain in the summer...my teammates rock though":p:rolleyes:

I am very happy for Farrar

Cavendish is definately here for just stage wins as him sitting up watched him drop from 2nd to 3rd. Good sprint by Farrar, and actually from that distance Cav was pretty impressive.

Most other sprinters from that far out would have faded to 5th or 6th.

Looks like the cav fanboys had their excuses prepared this time :p

Explanation is not the same thing as excuse you dolt. Cav lost today because he didn't sprint as well as Tyler did, no-one is saying anything different.

Farrar confirms his status as the best American pro cyclist of 2010.

well done sir. Fernandez didnt win, but i really didnt see EUskatel contesting a sprint, and he came 2nd.
Why not? He won a stage in Burgos and he's pretty consistent all things considered. Second-tier sprinter, but a decent one.

And damn, Hutarovich, I expected you to be 6th or so and get me some points before I could get Farrar.

Ugh. Though I respect his ability, Cav is one of my least favorite riders in the peloton.

LOL
i cant believe you guys fell for this. If i was being serious i would have used:rolleyes: instead of :p
I chose 3 regular posters who are clearly NOT cav fanboys, and realising that they had all said that Cav had made a wrong decision, i made a joke based on the fact that there is usually an excuse every time Cav loses a race.

It was a joke, honest.

Huh, saying Cav sprinting wrongly is considered an excuse nowadays? He made a bad decision by going too early. This means that Farrar had the better spring today. And this indicates I'm a Cav fanboy, how?

Just saw it was a joke. :p

Anyway, great sprint from Fernandez as well, hadn't expected him high up in the placings

Cav is as good as his leadout train. Eisel left the race and Goss is no Renshaw.

As simple as that.

Not really, I can't stand the guy but you need to acknowledge that he can win even without a real leadout train. He really is one of, if not the best, sprinter out there at the moment

It's true however that he might have got a bit too used to having a perfect leadout train. In the Tour he could make up for it when he lost Renshaw because he was clearly in a better condition than in the Vuelta.

Maybe he should try doing more races without a train to, err, train for this kind of situation.

Once Cavendish was not one who wasnt able to win without leadout.

That same style cost him the TDF points jersey this year... One of the early stages he sat up and dropped about 8 spots. What an idiot.

Did anybody hear why Arroyo dropped 1:30ish?

Arroyo had a puncture within the last 3 km so expect that to be fixed when the official results come out.

We all thought that but in this years tour, he showed he could win without his leadout train, and comfortably at that.

But they soon go back to the leadout train. What a shame! They should have let Cavendish try to win by himself then free other riders.
