It just looked uncomfortable, even when he was riding on the flat it was bouncing up and down.

From those two pics of Roglič, the positions indeed look different. But I don't think the second one is from a race. Anyway, comparing them, the position on the second pic looks more aero but less comfortable.

Last year the ITT was the day after the rest day, and the day before the rest day was the queen stage in Andorra.

And Roglic stomped on everyone. I need to see how Carthy does because he's a bit of an unknown in terms of time trial abilities, if I'm not mistaken.

In the top 5 (notwithstanding any others, including a possible stage winner like Cavagna), it should be Roglic > Mas > Carthy (with a ?) > Carapaz > Martin in terms of their actual prospects in this time trial.

according to Belgian press, he will: “We do not reveal whether we change bikes. Primoz will ride with the same helmet as in the time trial of the Tour ”, says sports manager Merijn Zeeman.
Primoz helmet officially became The Iconic Image of the 2020 TDF when it was the first image from the race shown during the 2021 route presentation.
There may be a business opportunity there for TJV and their helmet supplier.

If the change is made thoughtful, i.e. in slow tempo and fluent bike change with the bike already in the right gear, it could take a very few seconds.
But now I've watched those kind of bike changes a lot the recent years. Even the top teams seems not to have trained those simple factors, but seems just so clumsy.
And at a such short climb it can be crusial. Arbitrary mechanics at a Formula One team should have plenty of room for coaching to find the extra seconds.
Arbitrary mechanics from Formula One team would surely suggest some sort of harness to lift the rider and replace the bike under them.

What i find kind of strange is on many very important TT races for GC there is always someone that no one expected him to fly. And it's usually not one of the favourites but very close to the top. And that guy then goes like mad, beats everyone and takes the GC at the end. Pogačar on TdF comes to mind. And now EF boss claims Carthy can do the same.

So out of nowhere this guy could destroy everyone in TT and ride away in GC.
Lol...you say always and then give one example. In the last decade there aren't many examples I can think of to be honest, so it certainly doesn't happen always.

Some stats from PCS:

Based upon the performance in their last 5 time trials on WT or HC level, how would the GC after the time trial look like?

Just looking at the start times, i.e. Roglic (for example) at 16:34 PM, that's almost 48 hours after the Angliru stage finished. I know these guys do lots of warm-up & training during rest days & before the actual time trial starts, but it's often been said certain riders react differently the day after a rest day in a grand tour & their performance can sometimes suffer. Especially considering Angliru was so hard, then there's a rest, then kaboom there's an individual time trial which is a completely different sort of effort compared to climbing a near vertical wall on Sunday.

It's just something to consider on days like today. We could see some gaps.

This is one of the things that make grand tours Grand!

Surely if Carapaz loses 1:07mins/10km he would be 2:42 down on Roglic, not 1:07?
